After reading post after post after post on here praising Gardiner poles on their lightness, stiffness and allround fantasticness I have decided, for the sake of my poor shoulders - mostly my left one - to jump on the bandwagon and order a couple.

First to be replaced is my trusty, if slightly heavy and thick, Extel Hybrid 35. This will be replaced by a SLX of similar length, BUT, looking at the options available for brushes, etc I am a little confused.

Having never used a Gardiner pole what would be the best option when it comes to brushes??

I do want a gooseneck as a lot of our work is carried out on large blocks of flats with window boxes and getting over one of these does require one.

So, all of you Gardiner fans, your advice please. Picking the right length pole isn't the problem but what brush, etc do I add to the order???

personally,
i would go for a carbon g/neck & an extreme brush, white one, for that height

I have both the dual trim Black & White, didn't get along with the white one at first, found it a little stiff, but after a bit of perseverance it's now my brush of choice.

Also good for rinsing on the glass. I also have a extreme, but not a lover of it and had a flow issue with it since I bought it.

The bristles can cause the lead to start lifting as the a stiff and catch on the lead strips.

all brushes can make the lead lift, it is to do with the adhesive they used on the lead in the first place, stiffer will just make it happen quicker.

The only 2 i wouldn't suggest would be the red stiff dual-trim and the white single trim.Any of the other brushes would be a good choice as they are all good.Personally i like the black softer brushes ie. the black dual-trim sill brush and the black xtreme.If you have no specific preference Gardiners suggest the white mixed bristle dual-trim

Get the best go for the wight

Get the medium mix! Great all rounder if you not sure

Exactly! I imagine some of the guys on here choosing their brushes from their collection out of their trolley like a golfer chooses his club depending on the type and style of window, new clean or 30th clean since dispensing with Fairy liquid, original leads on leaded windows or sticky wooden strips on fake georgian windows.

Its window bloody cleaning  boys not rocket science, you lot crack me up.

we now use the white dual trim super light radius sill brush for everything.  have it on all out poles now and it is fantastic.

Its a paradox.

Why,because i got it thinking it was a compromise,then you use it and realise anything else would be a compromise.

And when its worn out i`m going to dump it and get 2 more.

I would recommend the medium dt  sill brush with gooseneck as a good all rounder.
