Shurflo pump
« on: March 05, 2012, 09:37:26 pm »
Do shurflo pumps allow water to drip through them after a certain time,i have an outlet outside my van just under bumper and it drips if i dont turn the shut of valve on the tank.it never used to do this so was just wondering if its cause the diaframs are wearing in the pump or something.

I have two Shurflo pumps on the van - 1 does and 1 doesn't.  I'm sure it is nothing to do with wear as the pump that does has done as much work as the pump that doesn't. I've opened it up and cleaned the non return valve and spring but it hasn't helped. (The non return valve is to stop pressure going back into the pump from the delivery side, so the leak must have something to do with the strength of the spring against the valve plate on the opposite direction - if you see what I mean. I emailed Williamson pumps about it, but didn't get a reply. I never chased them though)

When my tanks full the water flows out quite a bit. Its never worried me though. I use tap connectors on the van port and have 2 Hozelok hose connectors that I have siliconed up to stop any water leaks.
The last van we put into service has female hose connector with a built in stop and that works ok. I would imagine that sooner of later the little o ring on the stop valve will need replacing.
