I use TFR
I just scrub and scrub......
Virosol or TFR.........which best
« on: February 06, 2012, 07:19:43 pm »
Ive heard lots of talk and some pretty cool pictures of people using the above on conservatory cleans etc with easy, outstanding results.

Ive just bought me a back pack sprayer, that, once I have assembled, I can use for above jobs.  However, which chemical is best, where do you get it from, and how much do you dilute it?

Could it also be used on first cleans on the actual main windows too, or will too much use damage the brushes?

Finally, would like to use this (tfr if this is best) on cleaning my caravan roof, and possibly the multitude of fly marks of the front of the car in summer, but while looking up TFR on the interweb some seemed to be damaging to caravans......sounds like pretty toxic stuff!

Thanks as usual for the advice! :)

Ive used both and viro sol wins hands down!
To much worry using tfr as in leaving it on to long
And spotting in the sun, And I find it doesn't clean as good at viro sol

keep it simple

tfr i use from a local supplier but to be honest i only use it for really dirty conny roofs.fascias, soffit, outside gutters i tend to just soak with water then scrub away.

i think ill get some virosol for spring/summer as i usually end up with a fair few dirty roofs to clean!!

as for first cleans i just use plenty of pure and lots of scrubbing and rinsing to get windows/frames up to scratch.
price higher/work harder!

What happens if leave TFR on for too long then?
Can Virosol be used on car or caravan?
And where best to get either from, thought Halfords would sell TFR but couldnt see it.  Heard some previously saying that ebay stuff isnt so good?
And how do you know how much to dilute?

Others say to mix viro sol 24-1
But I mix it 12-1
Coz I find I don't have to scrub then just a few passes with the brush
Cars and caravans are fine
I've even cleaned my van engine after it was covered in
Oil from a duff rocker gasket I sprayed it on neat and it came up
Like you would believe !

ok cool, thanks, will check out some of those links, it's a dead heat on the 2 chemicals, so can't be much in it. think got to make sure don't mix it too strong, I'm not great at measuring stuff out!

if you use Tfr make sure its non caustic also you will have to work faster esp. in the sun because TFR will leave
a residue that is extremely hard to remove if it dries on the glass.

i used tfr until last year when i changed over to viro-sol (cheers froggy) - it cleans better and if dries on before cleaning the glass does not leave a residue/stain.
it is esp. better than TFR at taking off the fly dirt - i use it for all 1st cleans

Ass cleaning I have always used Tfr non caustic and it has a picture of a caravan on the label, and was designed for cleaning them. But next time I will try Virosol.
