I tend too use the laser measure

But it's just a toy, when where measuring by the square metere or foot for the older guys theres no need to be accurate to the nearest thousand of a mill

But it does look flash  8) 8)

PS I still keep a tape and wheel measure in the van, for when it wont work on steps etc

When I first started I used to measure everything, and over the last couple of years have thought about getting a laser tape measure but I know how much I'm going to charge now just by a quick glance around. A laser measure would be posie though, especially now they are so cheap. For £9.99, you can't really go wrong.

I got mine from argos (made by jcb) £19.99 works out all your measurements in sq ft or metres. Thing is the sonic ones, well mine anyway only measure up to 18 metres and they can play up now and again

I would be lost without one, it looks professional & you can then record all the measurements and then pull out those measurements when it comes round again for re-cleaning. I have tried loads of different types and the best one is called a strait line. You can buy it on the robert dyas website for a tenner. It works out the square footage, which you can change to metres and your pricing will never deviate.
BUY BUY BUY!!! ;D

Please do not get me wrong, I have got 2 sonic measures, so been there done that, but prefer to get the client INVOLVED with the costing of the job.

How can they trust something modern??? (you could have had it fixed to over PRICE!!!)? :o :o :o

You old Salesman.

As you know one of the tricks of selling is to get Client involved.

You are right buy getting them to help they are not wanting to go through all that again.

No I would not want to under charge.

Ian,

Reason I say save your money is that the 'sonic' ones are simply not reliable.  'Disto'  laser ones are......but about £300.00

I you do offices then a Disto is essential as a sonic measure stops off halfway across an office when it sees a filing cabinet or monitor within a few ft of its line. With a laser you can see when its theaded its way across to the other wall. I always include the gross area. I had a customer want us to deduct the areas of the pillars, until I pointed out that it is far quicker to clean the equivalent flat area that round the bottoms. I quoted a price per foot for edges!

I Use one by jcb cost£20 and is pretty reliable, you know by just looking at the area being measured you will already have a rough idea of the footage anyway, and always measure twice.
