I heard this too, pump has to work harder and can get less flow.  Also think about winter, easier for it to freeze id reckon!

I have 8 mm, tho i guess 6mm would be lighter, dont know if it kinks more or less?

I use 6mm.  Have been for around a year with the same 100m reel and had no problems.

Hope this helps.

In the past I've used both and prefer 6mm.  The flow rate isn't that different, but the hose is so much easier to pull and cheaper to boot.

I've been using 6mm for about 9 months now; two reels of 100 m on each.  No problems with either reel; no problems with the hose, even when massive bin lorries park on it (though that does stop the flow).  >:(

And my pumps are fine too.

I use the 8mm - as above i was 'informed' that 6mm worked the pump harder and i would not get the
same flow & i use a high flow rate so continued with 8mm

But i would suggest you get a good quality 'slimline' hose esp. if you get 8mm - i brought a cheap 100 meters - it had a large cross section profile and i could hardlt pull it once it got to the 70 meter mark. ( dumped it after 4 weeks )  now using streamline - very easy to use and pull.

always check the o/d of the hose before buying

someone "informed" me of that too Darran, But I now know it to be poop. well it might be true of some pump/controller/hose combinations but not mine. i use 6mm and all is cool.

Cleancare - at the time it seemed too much of a risk changing over
connectors & possibly running the risk of the pump not pumping enough H2O through to the brush head to go 6mm

perhaps i'll go 6mm on the next van set up  ;)

It's not poop, it's fact boys! ;D

You have to run a pump faster & with a higher pressure setting (which both combined would represent it working "harder") with 6mm hose than 8mm to achieve a set flow rate. ;)

However, the pumps are up to the job with either hose but reflecting the above fact, with 6mm you'll use more battery power & have more pressure in the system- which is why you see posts with no end of leaks, connectors popping of etc etc. ;)

Ive used 6mm microbore for nearly 5 yrs, still using the same shurflo pump, changed the microbore last year, as the old one was springing too many leaks, that lasted 4 yrs.
The hose was made by streamline.
So the argumemt that 6mm knackers your pump,
In my experience, is not true.
