Hi Bob,

Happy Birthday. I think it looks great, lots of useful advice and information, good images of before and after shots and tells potential customers all the services you provide.

If I may the only thing that made me flick backwards a couple of time was your trading name. You offer an array of services which in itself is great but some customers may ask  trauma? graffiti removal? whats the connection with J and J Carpet Cleaning?

I can see you have done business with many commercial clients but from a marketting point of view would having a general cleaning title help the business. I may be totally wrong, its just a thought.  Good luck anyhow.

I havent got a website but i looked at yours and stopped reading after 10 secs.  Way too much info on Dry Fusion.  Remember your talking to the customer who dosent care what method you use.  They want benefits.

Looked at the commercial section and again didnt even begin to read.  Page is just full of text.

I think you should make it more to the point with less text.

Don't have it open up to a specific page on dry fusion.  The home page should give an overview of as many services as possible, with links they can click through to.  Use good keywords in the text on the homepage (and all the pages) so that people looking for something will find your site.  Not many housewifes think "I'll just have my carpets dry fusioned today!", but carpet cleaning would probably be better.

Get rid of the scrolling text at the top of the page.  This NEVER does anything for you.

Also, your page requires a quicktime plugin.  That is really bad for a homepage, as I don't have that plugin, and it makes it look ugly.

You have disabled right-clicking.  Don't do that.  Its just annoying, and cuts down the options like sending links etc. You won't stop any malicious behavoir that way anyway.

Thats about it for free advice.  For £200 I will prepare a proper critisism with advice on keyword selection, marketing etc.

Sorry to point out somethings - but you did ask!
(PS - you are heading the right direction, its looks OK - Happy birthday)

I wouldn't go that far - its good - but it could be improved if you want it to do business for you.  All simple stuff.

I haven't made a website for my cleaning business yet, as I don't wish to market that way at the present.

To see my work, have a look at:
www.communityplaythings.co.uk
www.eastwoodplc.co.uk

Cheers

Hi
If you look at my old site www.homeandbusinessclean.co.uk this cost £90 per year you can change this as much as you wish all the time. the jandjcarpetcleaning cost set up and hosted for 12mounths £180 with www.clairehaas.co.uk or about that cost she is doing other things for me to (OK down boys)

I have been quoted over £1000 to put together a web for me, on this board £200 just to find out what is wrong with what I got. look at www.jenningsandson.co.uk the biggest lot of rubbish you ever seen cost about 4 years ago £120 no hosting fee as they forgot to bill me, this site has brought me in work totalling £35k from companies like the BBC. 20 20 Television, Hospitals, Health Centres. Domestic work booked from Australia. Spain. USA. for got the rest. so don’t spend to much put together what you like its you that has to sit in front of the customer and talk about your web site and what is on it, and don’t spend to much on putting it together. Its like carpet cleaning you can pay £20 per sqmts or £4 per sqmts. both give you clean carpets its just that one costs you a lot more. (bet that gets a few posting) ::)

I wouldn't know as there is actually no need to pay someone to "maintain" your website.  Making changes on a website is not difficult if it was built correctly.

If I was doing it, I would design a website like this (about 10 pages) for around £180.  I would then do a training day with the customer and show them how to change their site.  If they want me to change something, I bill at £15/hour.

However, what I am offering here, (becasue I am too busy to design my competitors ;D websites) Is a marketing plan, where I will explain how to market your website, and get into the search engine results pages when someone is looking for you.  This will take a simple approach to SEO, something that many people will want you to believe is complex.  All things you can do yourself.
