« on: December 07, 2011, 10:23:48 pm »
hi, im all domestic customers, but been asked to clean and qoute for 120 office swivel chairs, my first thought was £15 a chair, but when i arrived to look today noticed chem dry had signed in 3hrs earlier.
dont want to go cheap to get job, but dont want to lose out on some well earned money, there would be 4 of us on job 2 machines, and it would be a sunday, all chairs are in same room, with water supply. thers a good 12 to 13 hrs work, i think?
to make sure i get job is £1350 a fare price

thanks darren

We do a lot of chairs and it only takes a few minutes to do each chair and on that quantity I would probably price it up at max £5 per chair it is a mornings work.
If you think you are going to get £15 per chair let me know where you live and I will relocate there.

£15 a chair!!!! thats one way not to get the job.

They are pretty easy to clean but do take time and you'll be sick of the sight of them when your finished.

£3-£4 a chair is more realistic.

my first thought was £15 a chair,

:o absolutely no chance unless it's the Ritz or Savoy in London
£5 max but £3 would give you a sporting chance of getting it. Don't be fooled CD are particulary cheap these days infact they would probably use this job as a loss leader in order to be the prefered contractor for any carpet cleaning etc.

£1350.00, for little more as a bulk buy they could replace new for old.

For me £4 chair tops, with your man power still well on top after half a days easy work.

Hope you get it.

Well I've got £8 for that type of chair-but I was already known to the client. If you're good at selling you may get £5-£6 a chair unless there is something uniquely dirty about them.

i just did 10 office chairs this morn for £10 per chair, other month i did 150 of the beggars for £4 each, most monotonous day ever and I had a helper and an ipod :)

What you'll find is most of them need a quick spruce but some manky ones will take much longer, maybe a 2nd go

It really depends on what type of swivel chair they are - the ones with normal sized seat and little back pad?  Or the big sumptuous ones that are almost like an armchair on castors?  Big difference spread over 120 of the things!

If they're the small ones I agree with the posts above that £3 - £5 per chair is a realistic ball park to be competitive.  However I'd up it considerably if they were those bigger type.

How do you plan to do the work?  I'm presuming if it's "all in one room" it must be one open-plan floor of a call centre or something?  In which case you'll either have to move between desks working through the building, or roll all the chairs to one end?  Will have implications on time and convenience doing that with a porty.

Good luck :)

To a point. But it all comes down how much the customer is willing to pay, or what they think is value for money.

Never know it is the season of good will to all carpet cleaners.

Did 12 yesterday £100.00 took 1 hour 45 minutes including a coffee and a chat.
