« on: November 21, 2011, 01:34:51 pm »
I have seen various threads regarding groupon over the last few months but have just seen this article regarding it:

12 cup cakes normal price £26.00 ! Yeah right! Another inflated price by groupon so they can discount back to normal price.

I think she only has herself to blame, in business you have to know your numbers!

She will do very nicely in the future thanks to all the media coverage she has got. Cash flow nearly killed her but lived to see another day.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if she made hundreds and thousands out of it, the residual business being the icing on the cake.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Hi

So, she was making 100 cupcake per month?

That's 3 a day and she has 8 staff

Q. How come she is in business with only 3 cakes a day?

Q. After 25 years in the baking business, shouldn't she be making more?

Q. What are the 8 staff doing all day?

Something doesn't add up.

I suspect she makes other products as well, but hey it is a story in the Daily "bulls**t" Mail so it could be a typo on there part.

Something doesn't add up. ;D

heres a nice snippit from the link at the bottom of dougs link.

Hannah Jackson-Matombe , owner of Spotless Organic, a cleaning company, said: "It's been a disaster for us. We will never do a Groupon deal again."

She (SNP: ^SHEY - news) placed an offer for oven cleaning on the site at £19, down from the usual price of £99. Three hundred people purchased the coupon, of which 150 were redeemed. Miss Jackson-Matombe lost around £35 on each of the oven scrubs she performed - and had almost no repeat cusotmers.

"Their approach is to get you excited about the coverage. They say they're going to get you 300 more customers. You're going to be able to upsell your business. But if you're suddenly inundated, you have no chance to upsell anything," she said. "You basically work for Groupon, delivering something that only they benefit from."

....................................................
300 purchased and only 150 redeemed. :o

Jason,
It a lot of respects, yes, that's exactly what they are doing and committing commercial suicide by doing so.

Second thoughts,  the word 'retarded' is a bit strong, misinformed / misguided certainly fits the bill in most cases.
