you do it once a week for 20 mins, it helps preserve the life of the filters and RO.

you open the water valve fully and take the piece of hose for connecting from pure water outlet to your hose reel but instead of connecting to hose reel connect to fill and switch your pump on max

you can also use tap water but connect tap outlet to the top filter and swich on full

takes about 20 mins

is that what flushing is? i always thought you just open your waste tap on full for 20 mins once a week  now im confused

You flush your RO with full waste and backwash your softener resin with salt to regenerate it.

If you use any sort of water softener then it will need regenerating every so often depending on how hard your water is and how much is passing through it. There is some sort of calculation somewhere but I think you have to phone your water company to find exactly how hard your water is or something.

It looked a bit complicated so I regenerate my automatic water softener before every 1000 litres of pure I make. But I flush my RO after every 1000 litres also so I guess the softener may be exhausted by then and I'm flushing my membrane with hard water. Not ideal I know but I don't know what others do.

no ive not tried it yet as im not totally sure how to do it and how necessary it is

from around 300 ppm out of house tap my ro gets it down to around 001 ppm anyway (600 gpd ro, pumped 150 psi umpumped 25-30 psi)

I'm doing something wrong chap - my Tds from house is about 350 or so - coming out  RO at about 20 - best I've had was down to 15 - I use a booster pump too! Gonna change my pre-filters this week that might a difference

too be honest im suprised im getting 1 ppm out my ro its normally more like 14 i think
