The thing is, most people do not realize how bad the global finances really are. We (every one of us alive) are in deep deep trouble. People can ignore the facts that are mounting but that will not make them go away. It's way too deep and boring for most to grasp, but all our lives are going to change for the worse sooner rather than later. Most just do not realize it just yet.
People believe that some bugger is in charge and know's what to do, they don't and it will not get better, ever.
Which ever way you look at it, the sum's simply don't add up.

Hey Guys and Gals...

£75m extra cash just been ordered from the Royal Mint by David and his cronies so some of that should find its way into our pockets... happy days...

I have recently started after many months research etc, only managed to drop 200 leaflets as I have been getting so much work, cocked a couple of quotes up and worked for less than my target hourly rate but thats the learning curve... I suppose what I am saying is there is plenty of work out there to be had if as many on here have always said... "if one is prepared to get off ones arse and go find it..." 5,000 leaflets ready in a box to be hand delivered by me... not going to use a delivery company as I want my custies to meet me, cus they might not need me now but hopefully one day....

Lovin it and yes I know winter is coming... but not one of my new people have said not in the winter ta... 4/5 weeks for all...

Cheers

Matt

I think you mean 75 billion, don't you?

And some people believe that sittin on yer backside, worrying about the future getting worse isnt going to help either.

So what, there are always going to be issues in politics, government and finance. They are all as useless as each other, dosent mean though that you have to throw your hands up in the air, and say forget it all then does it?

Im pushing forward for me and my family, if the world falls to bits around us, then so what it doesnt mean i have to follow suit, and you do what you can to survive and work as hard as you can to build yourself a stable future. I dont care if you want to be mr doom and gloom, whilst your sittin there worrying, im out there making a difference to my familys lifestyle by going out and doing it.

Man yourself up you big girl

thanks Steve, my accuracy was out by even more than the 2% I thought lol. whoops. I suppose there's 1% that you drop as they start messing you about, etc too.

in our 'patch' I know of at least 5 people personally who have started up in past 2 years, but so far there's plenty of work to go round. tho I'm fortunate I do couple days lorry driving to break things up. that industry has been struggling, compared to them we are rolling in well paid, bountiful work.

& your better 'half' is 40% & don't u forget it!   ;D ;D ;D

We havent had that big an increase, but have only lost 4 customers this past 3 years directly down to recession tightening cut backs.  And thats with me regularly offering to stop going or decrease frequency!!  :o  Would never make a salesman, me!

On the other hand in that time we have picked up probably well over 25/30 new, more profitable customers.

Our main causes are for loosing customers are in descending order:

Death                  50%
Moving                45%
Other excuse        3% *

But as has been said, do a good job, be friendly, and wont do too bad, for some reason having clean windows seems to be high up on their list of priorities still!

*2% margin for error

Sorry to hijack the post, and I've not read any of the responses; not really; but AS, could you stick some bigger and better quality posts of your Missis up, please.

I think I quite like her.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Tosh

They are saying in the news that times are becoming as hard as they were in the early 70's.......

I remember those....at one stage interest rates went up to 25%!!!!  Only lasted a week or so.  We were told then that the end of the world as we knew it was nigh.

I'm still here.  I lived and worked through it - can't say I remember being broke/starving/had my house repossessed...in fact I recall I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about.  Sure there were redundancies and widespread unemployment but nothing like the dreadful conditions we're being led to believe are coming.

Even the Great Depression of the thirty's wasn't anything like as bad as the doom mongers would have us believe - lots of people had it really hard, but many times more got through it without it having much effect.

If you are unlucky enough to be in the small minority that take the brunt then you are in for a rough time, but in this trade if you are any good and you still run out of work, the rest of the country will already have collapsed.

I live in Ireland (I moved here in July this year), and believe me, there are a lot of people here who have lost their jobs, or their hours have been cut, and are really struggling to make ends meet. The government here has been just as irresponsible with regard to overspending/bank bailouts etc, as in Blighty, and are making massive spending cuts to try to make good. In short, the situation is grim, especially bearing in mind that there was a massive boom period here (google Celtic Tiger for more info) from around the mid-1990s until 2007-8.

Through all this, I am building my window cleaning business here from scratch, and in 10 weeks I have 96 customers, and this figure is increasing every week. I have to admit that I am finding it very tough going, but I reckon that, however tough things are, if we are determined enough, then we will work as hard as it takes to succeed.

Hiya Terry  :)
The Gulf stream is one (only one) degree warmer this month than the minus 2 it was last winter, maybe its only going to be only half as bad as it was last year.
Good luck with your ventures, you are an inspiration  :)

You guys must be able to tell I am one of Terrys fans  :D

oh well i must be the only one who thinks the economy is screwed. I have saw a lot of people lose jobs recently and ar enow really struggling. Paint it up whatever way you like. Maybe it hasn't affected you yet but to say it wont is stupid if ye ask me. We ar ein for a whole world of pain for a few years. Belts will be tightened and penny's looked after. Too think otherwise is burying yer head in the sand.

one of my friends finds out this week if he loses his job he has had since leaving school over 20 years ago. He's a CNC programmer and the field they ar ein is totally screwed at present. I also know people with civil engineering firms who are finding it hard. These are multi million pound companies emplying loads of people.

basically we are in for one bumpy ride.

my old company i worked for is over 160 years old and is a cash rich company and a world leader in production of leather. They i am told are also finding it tough in their market.
