Paying and motivating staff
« on: September 23, 2011, 08:58:03 pm »
How do you pay and motivate your staff? Incentives - use of vehicle? Bonuses? Hourly rate? Give them some autonomy as to what they do?

It's a game of three halves!

Job expansion and enlargement.

Get him to reorganise something; if it's already centralised, get him to decentralise it; or vice versa.

Watch this, Gold, it's very good:

In the army (you do a lot of leadership and management courses in the army; I've even got an NVQ 3 in management) we were taught that financial incentives weren't the be-all-and-end-all of good leadership/management (different ends of the same cat).

I would guess teamwork would be a key area in a one-to-one relationship such as yours.  Also, setting achievable targets, and clear instructions would be good too.

I also give Wor Lass sexual incentives if she works well, but I doubt you could (or should) apply that to your own employee.

On the vid, where does the artist get that wonderful wee pen? It goes bold, fine, red and black all without clicking any buttons, and a fine drawer of things he is too. I am impressed.
Gold...... Just pay them more, it's simple really. Windies will go for that.

Pay them enough to let them know that they can get their own van and go out on their own and take your custards off you.

Bosh, you like the 'sexual incentives' bit, don't you?

You're not my type, mate. Sorry.
