« on: September 05, 2011, 01:17:36 pm »
So i took out Window Cleaner Pro to help with my round management, payed my first payment and set-up to pay £22 per month for 9 months to buy the software! I've just managed to cancel them taking money from my account, so for 14 payments have been taken of £22 and according to the bank the payment was meant to continue indefinaitly?!! Anyone else had troubles??

This annoys me so so much.

These so called specilised window cleaning software companies take advantage of the fact that most window cleaners dont really have a clue as to what is already out there as far as database managment and crm systems are concerned.

For about  £130 you can pick up a copy of sage act, which is far more flexible, scalabie, and does a far better job at managing your sales and scheduals.

Bit of advice, just cos it says window cleaner software on the font dont mean its any good id go as much to say that its a blue lamp, and moths get burned.

When looking for a Crm system guys, search exactly for that a CRM system suitable for any business, you will save money and not end up being taken advantage of.

yeh most window cleaners are pretty thick paying out a fair wedge for WCP when roundtracker and george do the same job for a fraction of the cost and hassle.

keep it simple.i recommend the george program.
price higher/work harder!

Indeed, dedicated software isn't necessary.  I happily use Microsoft Works v. 6 for my business.  The spreadsheets and databases are fine for a sole trader's needs.  I acknowledge that it is probably higher maintenance than a dedicated program, but with dedicated programs, I feel more at the mercy of the software author for updates and tweaks.  Also with Works, you do need to be able to get your hands a bit dirty - especially with the initial setting up.  The beauty of it is that as it's very widely used software, there is plenty of free support out there on the web and usenet.
I might have a problem if I ever wanted to expand though.

Sage sounds affordable and is widely used so might be a future option if I move to the next level.
The big question though.  What's the export facility like?  Does it offer .csv export in case I change my mind (saves retyping everything)?

Hi Paul, yes it doex offer CSV export and inports. It has its own e-mail client, you can do e-billing, manages sales forcasts, cashflow, it also works with sage books.

Not being funny Paul but any crm system that doesent offer csv files isnt worth buying. pretty much all commercial crm system are expected to have csv import export and its been like that for the past 30 years. This is why i dont even rate george its very ltd in its functionality. no offence to paul sanders.

I regard the .csv facility as essential too Mark.  George does actually have .csv export (not sure about import).  WCPro lacks the export.  It was the main reason I never even trialled it - though there were others.
Thanks for the heads up.
Even with .csv it may be necessary, with some conversions, to re-type formulae, but even that need not be a big deal.
If anyone were to see me performing on the software I use, they would think it clunky and unwieldy.  However, because I adapted it myself for my own requirements, it has become second nature.  Also, because I did the adapting myself, it means that any alterations are easier for me to make.  For instance, there came a point where I needed an extra box on my invoices for purchase order numbers.  No problem.  I just moved a couple of bits around the sheet and job done.
