Gutter vac - Is 1400w enough?
« on: July 21, 2011, 06:36:23 pm »
As the title reads really.

This is for all those out there that use the Lidl type vacs for gutter cleaning. Is the 1400w motor enough to clean the gutters? or is is only really good enough for average/light soiling?

Also, im sure height of the building has a say in it too. So, will this vac be enough for say, heavily soiled 3 story property?

Cheers

Matt

It's going to struggle if you try and use the standard hose and inlet - it's too restricted.

What would you recommend then? obviously you can only use a bigger hose, not actually open up the inlet port on the vac.

Do you use a 1400w?

I know theres a few guys on here using the Lidl type vacs, not sure if they use a bigger hose or what?

The actual inlet is reasonable but the hose that fits it is too small in my opinion. I have mine connected to 38mm hose. I already have a 3000w vac but haven't fully tested the Lidl 1500W one on anything substantial yet.

Cheers for the tip.

I actually bought the vac just for excess water while pressure washing etc.. But i might give it a go with some gutters before i push the service.

yes and no.

yes it is good enough but may need a good tool to loosen up the tougher stuff, something like a weed hook type tool.

have you checked out nick days site?

WC,

yeah i've had a look, im just thinking about it at the moment, might push the service in the furture. I think ill give it a try on the inlaws place and see how it goes, then just pick up any tools i need to make the job easier.

Cheers.
