Yet another press report to tarnish our image
« on: May 29, 2011, 12:02:22 pm »
Anyone seen the mail website story today about excuses that people who have been claiming benefits fraudulently have been known to say.

They have to use a window cleaning one in their headline don't they ?

Yet again we get stereotyped by the press.  >:(

We joke about it but its a real image problem. When I said I reported dodgy looking window cleaners some on here got very defensive. I wonder why?

I don't recall you saying "dodgy" looking window cleaners. I recall you saying ANY window cleaners. Infact here it is verbatim!!!
--------------
Collected two different new leaflets this week from my customers who had saved them for me. Never heard of either of them before.
Yesterday driving less than a half a mile from my home I saw a new van working at a house. Looked like a pure freedom setup, makes a change, the new ones are usually Ionics.
Last week I saw another new van working around the area.

It must be spring. Now photos of the new vans and the new leaflets will be going off to HMRC which I do routinely now. Suprising how many of them you never see again.

-------------

If new vans and systems are a real image problem then god help us !!!  ;D

I blame the gov & DSS, you see loads of window cleaners, on the streets, most striaght hones businesses, but lots of dole boys, so why dont the just stop and check on the street. Its not rocket science is it, or get an external company doing the checks, with payment based on results, but as said thousand of years ago " man can not direct his own step"

I remember when I got caught scratching on and working too; it was all over the local papers.
The shame it brought on me and my family was awful. It wasn`t so much the signing on but the looks and comments I got when people discovered that I had actually stooped to cleaning windows  :-[.

I once got reported for working and 'signing on' by a vindictive neighbour. Having nothing to hide, I invited the bods around to check us out.

They clearly expected to find us guilty, and were initially quite aggressive with us.

When it came to us showing them our books, however, they could not believe how well organized they were (every customer payment being itemised individually). They said they had never seen such well kept records before, especially by a window cleaner.

I then pointed out that these could be further cross referenced with the books I carry with me when on the glass.

They left completely satisfied, and actually apologized for having to check us out in the first place.

Exactly who did you invite round to check you out?

Who did? Someone you invited to check you out was aggresive?

Thats me flabbergasted. They apologised after you invited them round? Come on tell us who it was who came to check you and roughly what year was this?
