You know, i hit all new builds with leaflets , i keep going back as and when new owners move in ,but i never seem to  " get in there"...

Is it a case of back handers to the building companies?

or is it who you know?

I have also spoke to the receptionist and left all the info.... still nothing .

Any ideas where i am going wrong lads ?

usually the builders have a w/c that will do a sparkle clean just before the owners move in -
if they leave a card then the custy's continue to use them.  but quite often people wait until all
the building work is completed as "they only get dirty"
then it's just getting it at the right time.

i have been thinking about offering the new build estates free window cleaning on the show home every six weeks for a year, and in return their sales staff give out my leaflets to the new home owners.  not sure it would work or be worth doing  :

Yes I think you are right, they never seem to be that interested when they first move in. Too many other things to think about i suppose.

i spect you w/f/p boys would be forced to do them trad first time as they are usually stuck on with cement etc .                    i work on 1 half finished new estate and its so dirty from the blowing dust i wish i hadnt set foot on it to tell the truth , easier pickings elsewhere. i bet even when the estates finished and all lovely it will be another year before dust has gone from the sand brushed into the pavements etc

No, the builders have their own cleaners who sort that out. Who wants to move into a brand new house with cement stuck to the windows?

I know of a windy who just goes and does them. Calls on friday and says I'm your window cleaner I cleaned your windows, cough up and they do. Mind you he is a bit of a meat head.

Any new builds and he's straight in on the 1st occupier. Ends up with all the estate.

been my experience that cements still there ,not big blobs but enough to bother me. one new house im cleaning regular still has that protective poly film with writing on stuck onto  the frames. it doesnt peel off easy  so i leave it be,but it doesnt look nice

ive built my business from new estates and used to knock doors just after moving in after getting moving in dates from sales.i always got the jobs.other windies never bothered this system because it is a slow process and they want lots of work imediatly and so it really was easy pickings.leaflets is a waste of time,need to knock.but now people are not that interested as everyone is skint.

I moved onto a new estate 2 years ago, the house was cleaned by a cleaning company prior to me moving in, they left no card. Few days after i moved in a window cleaner knocked on my door i told him i was a window cleaner and we got chatting. He is the only cleaner on the estate and as the estate has been bulit he has knocked on doors as people have moved in. I have watched over the past couple of years and he does a good job for a competitve price. I used to clean most of my old neighbours houses but when i moved i decided i didnt want the hastle. Another new estate is being built near me and i have got a couple on there but its dirty work. Whilst the estate is being bulit they will be like first cleans every time so im not looking to take many more on. Dont know what any others have experienced but i wouldnt be looking to build my business around new estates.

Flick wants clean windows; Algie gets the shock of his life as the first mortgage payment hits the bank account and keeps putting it off until Flick can stand it no more and gets them cleaned.

try and get the sales agent to put your card in the buyer welcome packs.

Allow them to settle inn but keep on leafleting and knock after 5.30 tell them you do others in the area so they think cleaning is the norm. Keep  going back there will be these who do not have money and those were its the 2 nd or third home. LOOK AT THE CARS IT WILL TELL IF THEY HAVE MONEY.NEW BUILD TAKE PERSISTENT EFFORT .TS THE AREA i DO WELL. remember LEAFLETS OFTEN HIT THE BIN.
