As Ian says, you should be talking to the owner of the Board NOT the Moderators.
But there again if everybody filled in the profile in FULL, there would be NO problem in mailing each other direct!!
What have so many of you got to hide??

Hi Guys,
As I understand it , the software does not allow admin/mods to view PM's which means libellous , nasty etc messages can be sent without the owners/mods knowing about it.
John's point about filling out profiles is obviously valid, even those who like to remain anonymous can use a differnt name on their email.
Cheers,
Doug

Do what any customer does and vote with your feet or in this case your fingers and go to the competition for sending your messages. Im sure 95% of us use all the boards.

I'll be honest with you guys. As Doug has said, with the old system (the system that's still used by another forum) it was possible for administrators to 'monitor' the 'personal' messages. If you suspected someone was abusing the system then it could be checked and dealt with. With this system it just can't be done (plus we don't really want to have to check it and we don't have the time!)
Yes, the message system was useful and if there was a way to stop 'competitors' abusing it then we would reinstate it. Unfortunately, at the moment there isn't.
As Mark has said, I'm sure we lose out by not having it but the blunt reality is that our reputation is more important to us. I'm not going to be drawn into any further dabate about it - I thought it was only polite to answer.
You certainly need to be aware that personal or private messages on most forums are neither personal or private!
Regards
Mike

Hi Guys
With regards PMs, It is very dangerous to leave your email on any forum in a message, as there are automated bots that collect emails then put it on mailing lists. the best way to protect yourself is to use second identities. Many isp's now allow you to make up thousands, these can be dumped when you are added to a mailing list.
One other way around around this would be to leave your business phone number.
