I've broken my thumb - suggestions pls
« on: April 12, 2011, 08:11:36 am »
on saturday i was moving some rocks whilst fencing and i crushed my right thumb. nail off and the tip is broken and now has been operated on and wired. i am going to be off for 2/3 weeks according to doc.

so, to make use of the down time i need sensible suggestions about how i can spend the time productively. any ideas? i'll trickle charge all the batteries, phone custies as they become due but wondered if others have suggestions?

also has anyone else suffered similar injury? how long was the recovery?

and i had a really busy month planned. will cost me about £3000 :(

Im pretty sure I would find a way to be able to work with a thumb injury.
Probably wouldn't be quite as fast but I could still get something done.

there's no way i can work. can't grip, can't drive, can't get it wet, can't risk infection. can do end of year accounts, advise custies so i don't lose them, rest the wrist strain i had on same hand, research and buy new equipment needed thus getting best price and enjoy a few days off when weather is good rather than when it's pouring like i usually have to.

Get a man to do your job. You will pay him the bigger part of the profit. This way you won't miss the customers and the whole sum of the wages. I think this is a good compromise.

Mmmh, I don't think it's practical to get someone in to help me, for so many reasons.

Look at your round, maybe you can re jig, re organise so it works better when you start again,

Are you going to just miss a cycle and inform custies?
Or just start where you left off?

Best I can come up with is to bolt/fix a swivel cup to your wrist plaster to take the butt of a pole.
