Started my work as normal this morning. First 3 custies in same street. First one said "Are you enjoying your retirement?" I said you what!
Apparantly some wc has been going round telling my custies that I've packed up and retired. Then tried to take on my custies.
Cheeky f*c*ka!!!
There maybe more to it. A good few years ago, here in Chepstow, there was some confusion about whether a window cleaner had packed it in or not, and another window cleaner went round telling his customers that he'd finished and asked if they wanted him instead.
I think it was more confusion and hopeful thinking than something more totally underhand.
So this is what I suspect happened:
The window cleaner had been slow in getting around his work and one of his customers found another window cleaner and said something like, "I think my window cleaner has packed it in, will you clean them?", and after a short discussion the second window cleaner thought "I may as well canvass his old customers then!", thinking the other window cleaner had stopped cleaning windows.
This led to a bit of unhappiness and animosity between to two of 'em. They still don't like each other.
So maybe something similar has happened here?
