Thanks guys - and I know what you mean Paul - but the jw pool is an unusual one with window cleaning - the self starters who realise that they and their missus can live off of pairing up for two days a week wc, living cheaply and seeing the world. (got a few relatives and friends who go to Central America or Uganda doing missionary work for four months over the winter and come back and work like nutters to go back and do it all again .. or go off building kingdom halls in Bulgaria etc. Then they typically settle and try to finance their own homes.)

Then you get the family men who do it for a living.

But the ones who are looking for a couple of days a week to go pioneering tend to have the nouse to run their own show.

The lazy, mentally damaged and useless stay in bed watching Jeremy Kyle and live off of benefits but I wouldn't encourage them by giving a dab in the hand.

Funnily enough I've just had a call from my older bro who works four days a week as an office copier repair guy and is fed up of driving all over the southwest and is in a position to think about "simplifying" - that might be an option as he's worked with me on rare occasions. I could set him up with a trailer system and he'd be happy earning £100 for an easy day. But he might "need" 3 days a week.

Hmmmmmm ... rent out a grands worth to him and take on cream for myself?

Thinks.
If you offer him a days work and help him to build up his own round, you would be on to a winner  ;D

I take your point regarding the bit I've highlighted Malc.  It seems that things aren't always as simple as they first appear.  Thinking on it a bit more, there is always a possibility of work issues interfering with more spiritual ones in such a situation.  So perhaps it's not a great idea even if the right person were available.  I know my father had a number of conflicts of interest when taking on part-time, temporary helpers with his building business (and with the window cleaning when he did that for a while).  I should have known better than to suggest it but it took me a while to remember some of the potential issues.

No it's a good line of possibility Paul but you need the right person at the right time that's all.

OK Tosh - I added it up to £50 worth - you can have that for a grand!  ;D

If you think I'm parting with £500 worth for a grand you must think I was so wide-eyed that I came up the river on a lily leaf! ;D

Malc

Im in a similar position to yourself now that i have built up a round and im working 6 days a week now and have been fortunate in recent months as ive been able to work through the weather. I already employ 1 man but im weighing up the options

I could employ one more man to reduce the days meaning i have more free days to find work for and continue to expand.

Another option is to sell off the excess work i dont want and continue to expand until i get to the stage that i need to sell again

The decision is hard but which ever option i choose it will work for me. The option you have to make is more on the basis of whether you want to earn more through employing or earn less through selling and reducing your work load.

I would employ part time until you find the right person then look at getting more work

Good Luck

I  sold a bit of work on a few years ago.sometimes you need to for your own piece of mind!if you live with some desire to have some spiritual life then you cant work all the time and employing is a real hassle at times!

£1200 quid, last offer, Gold.  I've got to pay a tenner bridge fee to get home from Bristol; and often they close the Bridge 'cos of the wrong sort of leaves on the tarmac or something and then I'd have to go via the other bridge.

Employing is OK if you can get the right person.

I made the mistake of employing a friend. Messed me about no end so in the end I had to let him go. Nice enough lad, but always going sick, he didn't drive which meant me going miles out of my way just to pick him up/drop him home. Often not ready when I picked him up .... the list goes on.

Never again.
