Cancellation after 3 cleans no reason
« on: March 29, 2011, 07:13:03 pm »
As stated a WFP cancellation after 3 cleans and the 4th clean would have been due soon.

its when they cancel after 3 cleans that gets to me most she didnt give a reason in the message i will contact her and find out,

her glass was easy to clean (sheeting),shes been happy 3 times ive even double checked cos i had 3 in that street price was reasonable maybe the cheapest i would do it is £2 less , she couldnt cancel for £2 if someone under cut me by £2 fair play but i don't think so..she dont seem the kinda person to cancel for a tiny saving and i try and price well cos i do look for long term.

these canceltions gets to me more then 1st clean cancellations (the ones that lie saying they want it every 2 months instead really wanted the 2 year dirt off and didnt want to pay the one off clean price)

because it makes me think my gosh how many will cancel after 3 cleans , when will i stop having to replace work its only 1 and i need to be patient but still strange  ::)

I would guess that the glass is cleaner than expected, and with the way the economy is we all have an eye on the pennies.

I would try for a lower frequency
if it is dirty it is fair game

You seriously need to adjust your brain to stop getting ripped off. As long as there's an option to pay a flat clean rate for a first clean they'll take it.

that's what happened with 2 customers (mother & daughter) last year.cleaned them 3 or 4 times and then they canceled ,no reason .i even asked why .they just told me they don't need me anymore.they used  to have a window cleaner but not reliable.they even insist on me coming on time.i try not to be bothered about, customers come and go.someone on here said something like:'' it's hard to find good customers but it's harder to find good window cleaners''.i think it's true.that's my motto every time i speak with any of my customers.makes them think about it

like everything in life, theres a lot of brass around and not much gold .   today i found rare gold,a woman who had been crowing to her friends that she had finally got a windie and wanted me to come weekly  ( looked a bit crestfallen when i said im 6weekly)

I do say "by the way this is a regular price at 8 weeks minimum term 3 cleans after 3 cleans 99% never leave but i do ask for 3 if its a one clean you want its 2 cleans please can you confirm that you would like a regular window cleaner?"

Reply yes
me great another reason why we ask for 3 cleans is so we can prove ourselfs althou 1st cleans are normally flawless sometimes  the odd window may need extra rinsing if so normally after the 3rd clean everything should be good.

so its in the customers head its a regular clean and 3 clean minimum.

now i find after putting it in there face like that 1 in 15 bullpoop me maybe 2 in 40 its quite a low figure most people cant go down the wana cancel cos of 1 little bead cos i have warned them about it, and they cant say cheers mate ill call you if i like.

As a matter of fact i had one today that cancelled after 1 clean i said the same very thing and he pretended he didn't understand i will get that its annoying

i just look forward to them calling me in 8 months then its 3x the clean  ;D they tell me to sod of but once they do that to me they are always treated as a one off or even more then a one off an honest one off person if i had time 2x a lying cancellation calling me again is 3x  ;D (not that they ever say yes im sure they will find another windy to mess about  >:()

but in general its not always easy to charge 2x for the 1st clean i could be loosing a good customer,

i guess  on a law of averages a decent person will have trouble cancelling within this period but some people will simply say yes then cancel, they are just dishonest nothing els to be said because i clearly explain the minimum term and give them the option of paying 2x if they want a one off.

i thought and thought about this and i came to the conclusion that i wont use contracts that good customers may not sign it so it looks like its best to just filter but with caution and carefully explain my procedures

im able to filter out as much as possible after the canvass on the phone just confirming what i may have explain on the door and i do get a changed mind which is good cos that changed mind would have changed after the 1st clean. but i will get stung with the odd lair who thinks he is clever by messing about the window cleaner !

when i get the chop i never ask why, just be nice about it and tell them to give us a shout when they change thier mind, it can be a variety of reasons,i dont tell people my problems so i dont expect it off customers

would you take them back on at the same price stan?

With a lot of people its just short attention spans, they probably go to weightwatchers three times then never go again, join a gym and go a few times etc.

When their windows are dirty they want a window cleaner, once they are clean they don't need a window cleaner any more. The novelty wears off.

Have you never bought a new car, cleaned it religiously the first few weekends then its back to the old routine again?

You did better than me.  I had one cancel after two cleans yesterday.  Pity really as it was a £42 job as well.  It wasn't the volume of glass that triggered such a price.  It's that quite a few of the windows were very hard to get to and there were two conservatories.  The price wasn't too high.  I just had a feeling something wasn't right - you sense it sometimes.  It wasn't WFP.  They've had it before.  The job couldn't be done without it unless lots of windows were left.  In fact, I imagine that some WFPers wouldn't have been able to do it all as some bits needed either a very light pole or a double hernia.  Apparently the previous WFPers who cleaned it were part of a franchise and when she told me how that ended I wondered how long I would last.  Apparently she used to send them away if it was raining - even lightly - and then they wouldn't turn up for another month - when they were next in the area.  When she phoned me, they hadn't been around for a while - not surprising really.  I didn't expect it to be long term but I thought I might have got a year out of it.  Not to worry.  It was a ballbreaker of a job anyway.  Although the note with the cheque made no mention of the reason for cancelling, I have an inkling the no window cleaner would last there for too long.
Incidentally, my £42 took an hour and a half to earn so I was hardly expensive - though I probably could have reduced it to one and a quarter if pushed.

When we used to get cancellations (we all get them so don't worry!) we would just confirm their cancellation and say that we hoped that everything was ok for them with our service and should they need us again blah de blah.
The ones that used to get to me were theones who said , we know you said you were regular and reliable, but we didn't think you would be..... ::)

I had my biggest cancellation todate yesterday 2x£12 houses so £24 every month (1 house but divided into 2 ... think they split up ... even paid their bills seperately) .. an hour later picked up an £8 a month bungerlow so only £16 down .... some days ur up and some ur down  ;)

still do the house next door so will watch as their windows get dirtier and dirtier - assuming ive not been undercut - they said they were skint so will see .... they will prob want them doing for Christmas though !

If the windows are minging on new cleans charge double to reflect the extra time spent bringing up like new. Sorts out the time wasters who only want a one, two or three time clean.

Sorry mate, i should of made myself clearer. If you're activley canvassing them then yeah its hard to charge extra first time. I was talking about people who have contacted you really.
