Royal Wedding Marketing
« on: March 29, 2011, 09:38:16 am »
Thought some of you more forward thinkers out there might be interested in what we are doing to commemorate the Royal Big Day,

Love it or hate it the Royal Wedding will dominate April and you have an opportunity to promote your business through it.

We are giving away either a commemorative Mug a Tea Towel or a Tray with every clean during April right up to the big day, very cheap a bit tacky but hey they like it.

If they choose one they can buy the other two to complete the set if they wish.

We put a nice ad in the local paper as well with all the bunting etc promoting the above and so far the response has been more than we would have anticipated.  ;)

The Royal Wedding will definitely be a memorable event. People will talk about it for a long time.  :)
It is said that hotels in London are already over booked and the airports will burst one week before the wedding. It will be outstanding!  :o

i doubt it. can't see why they'd use tax money to fund something a large amount of people apprantly don't care about that wont be of any benefit to anyone. doesn't compute with me

I doubt they are going to use tax money. The advertising campaign is strong enough to fund the wedding. The event even has its own website and on-line store. You may not be interested in this wedding, but there are a lot of people around the world who will watch it either on TV or live.
In 1981 when Lady Diana and Prince Charles married, 650 000 people watched them on TV, and this year the authorities are expecting this amount of viewer to observe the wedding live.
Anyway, I must admit that I also think that the fuss is really big. But the Royal Family is trying to earn some money from the event, so I believe it should be. If they don't promote the wedding they will not earn anything.

quick trawl through the net, newspaper sites etc and the consensus is that this is going to cost the tax payer £10m.

We all know its going to cost a packet especially the security,So make some money yourself out of it.  ::)

Any way I take it no one else is doing any kind of marketing around the wedding.  Those that leaflet should be thinking about putting a few thousand out all Union Jacked up, like wise for post cards, offering a wedding promotional offer, just something different that captures the moment, piggy backing on all the mass of promotions and publicity that will surround the event.

Its a one off give it a go you might surprise yourself.

Not going to earn me anything. It will be putting money into businesses in central London who will contribute through vat and tax. Also tv and other media companies.

to be fair, my taxes go towards other areas that wont effect me either. I've paid national insurance for god knows how long not had to use it for years and only very been very minor issues that take 1 minute to sort out. my partner goes a few times a month it feels like yet we pay the same sometimes i pay even more.

i think it's a bit naive to think that something like the royal wedding wont benefit you in any way what so ever just because you aren't in the city. the extra in tax is what 5p? complete guess but doubt it's much more then that possibly less

you've mentioned the cost as a total number, our country etc, but the benefit you wont count as it doesn't effect you so then ignore us a country.

edit: besides, i thought you run an online store? i'm sure work will increase for carpet cleaners due to the wedding, and i'm sure plenty of them will be customers of yours. Hilton appears to have more work now because of the wedding, if he buys from you that'll be just one of the indirect benefits (but still a benefit) to you for the small increase in tax.

How about sponsoring your local/target area street party. Bung them £50 or get some cakes made with your logo on LOL

Got to be better than advertising in local rag etc.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Its the bloomin spring/summer time! Its officaly the carpet cleaning session!, we should all be busy! I really dont think a wedding of any kind is going to open up the flood gates in the carpet cleaning game! a london hackney, a london based guest house, london pub, resturants etc etc thats a different story. my 2cents.

I was only stating what the consensus of the costs are. Never looked at what the beneifts are. Never expressed an opinion either way. To be honest couldn't care less.
I'm not a republican, but there are a lot more important people than them in this country, some of whom are struggling desperately at the moment. Like a good friend of mine who runs a young carers support service. Its heart breaking to see these kids some as young as 8 who are looking after disabled or alchoholic parents. The young carers is the only break they get away from the drudgery. They've had their funding cut and were looking to have to wind up this April, however they have had an 11th hour reprieve and have received a donation to keep going for another 3 years.
Can't see how a royal wedding will benefit the carpet cleaning industry. Its only 30 days away and I don't know anyone yet who's customer has mentioned it.
