National Carpet Cleaning Week
« on: March 16, 2011, 08:08:07 am »
Got an email this morning about National Carpet Cleaning Week in the US. Ok, it's being run by a supplier but I think the idea of it is yet another example of how they are so much further ahead of us, escpecially in the mass marketing of carpet cleaning.
We only serve a tiny fraction of the available market 20%, or so and we could certainly do with some schemes of a similar ilk to awaken a few more %.

I would have thought this is the type of promotion the ncca should be looking at to
promote carpet and upholstery cleaning for there members and promote membership
of the association to business owners.

If you follow the link you will see there is actually a "National Cleaning Week", which seems to coincide with a time people do a spring clean of their homes.
The company in the link seems to have latched on to the idea and called it "National (Carpet) Cleaning Week", very enterprising seeing they are suppliers of carpet cleaning machines and products.
If you take a look at what they suggest is done - its all to be done by YOU, not by them. Everything YOU do may generate business for them of course, you promote your business, get more sales, use more products, or even buy a new machine, hopefully from them.
Doesnt mention a third party doing the leg work Ryan, its all about YOU promoting YOUR business, emailing your clients, contacting all your referals, contacting your local press, donate to charity (letting your clients know that a % of their purchase goes to charity, facebook/twitter, contacting local radio and tv stations, and so many other ways.
All good stuff and worthy of note, but it is all done by YOU.

Joe
totally agree with you but it is easier to create a buzz when it is done by thousands rather than one
say the ncca ran a tv campain nationally what it could do for carpet cleaning I wonder how much work
profesionals have had from the RD ads or how much chemdry get from selling there spotters in argos
custys are paying £13 to sit chemdrys name in there cupboard.

I remember Alltec recommending cleaners to do a promotion on their newsletters/reminders about red nose day and a % given to the charity, what it does is make us market more and also pushes carpet cleaning to the fore front of customers minds, good idea really.
