Water licence

Just seen on local water board website that this time next year all wfp guys will have to purchase a licence due to the ammount of water they use. Anything from £250 upwards, depending on the area you are in.. Has anyone heard about this?

We do use lots of water when cleaning windows and I think the water board have been told this.

So it's just another scam to get more money out of the customers, but look on the bright side we should be able to claim against our taxes ;)

How much water do wfps use in an average day. We are trad and each use about 30 litres a pair a day

Some WFP guys are using 600+ litres, I use anything from 100 to 300

they can't charge all wfp users because some people harvest rain water plus people could have water holes dug the water whole cost a few thousand but might be worh while in the long run

well I don't know about the OP area but I checked Scottish water website and it is only required for use if you use hydrants and nothing else, no mention of wfp or window cleaning

Technically, all the water in a Water Authority's area belongs to them and they can charge you for the use of it, even rainwater and bore holes.

October  total=  cleaned  extra per month
November = cleaned extra per month
Total £  so far.

i think its a load of rubish until i see a link to the website that has the infomation im not going to belive it.

In reply to doc windows I could afford wfp set up, but the hassle of custy,s always moaning about how wet there windows are and the spotting probs you lot have. Everyother day there are guys thats post a thread or a reply about spotting etc.
How many trads have this prob fella.  ;D ;D ;D ;D
If you prefer Trad or WFP the option is yours AH

Surely there would have to be different bands, as some use much more than others that would cause the water board alot of hassle, if on a meter the quantity of water you use is payed for anyway.But if theres a drought i do really think WFP should be part of a hose pipe ban if it isn't already.
Im in the process of setting up a WFP backpack to do hard to reach windows so i will be using alot less water than a full time WFP w/c.

pain in the glass honestly mate i had the same attitude as you before wfp.16 years as a die hard trad!dont kid yourself!very few custies moan as in general wfp does a fantastic job!.also its faster overall and less tiresome.


most problems are due to inexperience and user error.as for water licences.dont think ill need one for my measly 1000-1200L A WEEK i use for window cleaning(DI ONLY)
