it does depend on your flyer design aswell i think, i posted an area last year about 2500 leaflets which now i think are a crap design i cant remember how many i picked up now but was about 0.5%,did 1 day this year same area 470 business cards dropped and 6 new custys just off that

It seems almost every week there is a question on the forum about flyers.
They do have value and they will get customer enquiries.
But there is no magic design of flyer that will have customers ringing your phone off the hook.
I just view them as one form of promotion alongside other methods.

not a waste of time at all, i have a basic flyer design black and white no frills my friend delivers them for me a few hours a day couple of times a week and my phone has been ringing every day, done about 3000 so far and i've got near 400 quids worth of work from them,

as I was typing this reply just had another enquiry from a flyer, anyone want me to email a copy to them i can do, not gonna post it up on here though

they do work you dont need some fancy design like i've seen from one on here recently,

I've put out 500 plus on a afternoon and got no calls then you get a call 2 months after, its hit and miss when I did my home work I was expecting 1-2 percent but it dont always happen. Seems door knocking is the best but I hate that as feel like I'm begging do you know what I mean.

When I canvass, I rely on good old door knocking. I have a batch of flyers with me, which I keep hidden and only hand them out on request. I have dropped leaflets through doors in the past, but in my experience it wasn't profitable.

I am sure it works for some, but not for me. Door knocking may seem like begging, but if you think about it in a positive way, you are offering a service, not asking for money for nothing.

The w/c culture here is very different to Blighty. I currently have 101 customers (gained in 11 weeks) although of these, 40 odd are good, regular customers. The others are every 2 months plus, or as and when they contact me for me to clean them! Hence I am still canvassing on the days when I have no work or to replace the 'irregulars'. I will get there, but it is definitely tougher to get a good foothold here. In England, I was practically fighting work off as there was so much of it!  

Hmm, president eh? Do ye reckon that t'Irish voters need another clown to make up the presidential lineup! They're confused enough, methinks. Not having a go at the Irish ... they're brainier than me!  

By the way, where are you based Pod?
