Changed Frequency New
« on: February 20, 2011, 11:22:20 am »
iv changed all my customers from 8 weekly to 6 weekly and the difference in turnover must be £15-20000

i forgot to check what my turnover was around before i began changing them on window cleaner pro but it had dropped to mid £30,000s now gone over £50,000 just from changing frequency.

reason i have changed is it was too hard too build up solid block of 8 weeks work with decent custom that didnt involve messers and crap payers, so i have weaned out the crap and reduced number of customers most customer we have spoke to have been happy to change as we were takin up to 11 week to get round to clean again coz of messers, bad weather etc.

because i didnt have a full 8 weeks work i wasnt taking work seriously enough thinkin there would always be another day to do the work now iv condensed it in to 6 weeks weve got full days work every day now with decent paying customers.

just thought id share that for those of you who are 8 weekly

when you get behind now it will be pretty impossible for you to catch up though so dont take the expected turnover to be true

In the same boat but also have a large amount of monthly customers. Trying to get everyone into a set routine ie six weekly seems quite a major move but I may consider it as it should make things easier in the long term.
Richy , what was the reaction from most about going from 8 to 6 weekly, as like you i can sometimes take 10 weeks or more to get to round to some people due to work load and weather.

How have they taken it?

Majority of our customers are all on 4 weekly but have got the odd few on 8 weeks or even 12/13 weeks

im a quick learner (after a slow start  :) ) ... not changed frequency mine mostly month with about 15% 2 monthly but been ruthless getting rid of following.

A .. Non payers unless constantly chased
B .. Non payers who never pay (only had a handful thankfully .. wrote about £80 off)
C .. Dog toilet in gardens
D .. Moaners on small jobs like £5 upstairs only who asked me to drop from every month to every 2 months then said leave it this time as its gonna rain and were away this week so leave it

In total dropped about 26 jobs but have replaced all of them now with proper customers and better paying work.

Not thought about changing frequency though may have a think on that.

My mission over next few months is to fill up my empty days with more customers.

Wanted 96 by end of feb but only managed 30 so far

from what most have said they had no idea what frequency they wer on really,

dave the reason we were behind a lot was the amount of time we wasted chasing round after crap customers making 3-4 trips to there house to try and clean it and the snow etc in normal weather we would be regular etc.

changing to this frequency just means iv got too start pulling my finger out, ringing customers night before etc and just ensure things are ran smoothly.

last 12 months iv been going thru bit of bad patch heads been up me arse for no apparent reason and been demotivated with everything but got me head together again now so gna giv it a big push try n get two van on road again

That would equate to 1000 customers at an average price of £10 a clean or 500 at an average price of £20 a clean to increase turnover by £20,000

Extra two cleans per year for everyone.

That would give you £16000 if they were all £20 and you did the whole lot on time.

The only problem with 6 weeklys is that when a custy wants to extend the frequency the only freq you can offer that still fits your round is 12 weekly - 4 times a year!! . If you start off with 4 weekly then the custys that want a longer frequency can be 8 weeklys. ;)

all our customer are 4 weeks, so when a few 'cant afford it' they go to 6 or 8 weeks.

works well for us...

didnt think anybody cleaned fortnightly anymore!!i certainly have nt for over 10 years now!!

i have big chunks of very compact 4 weekly work with a few 8 weeklies among them.then a few 6 weekly commercial jobs and 8 weekly big country houses.

most new customers are choosing 8 weekly at a good price(for me!)esp bigger leafy suburb type houses.

the problem is sometimes the 4 weeklies go into 5 or even 6 weeks due to bad weather/hols etc and the "every other time" 8 weeklies on the same estates then get done 9 or 10 weeks!i do bring them forward though if my 4 weeklies go into 6 weeks!

richy no point forecasting how many cleans a year and counting your chickens before they hatch as you wont stick at it!!there are too many other factors to take into consideration!

bad weather(like today!its cold wet and windy here!),hols, sickness, low motivation, staff just leaving or not turning up for a day or two,van repairs etc all put a dent into your well intentioned plans!!trust me!!been there and done that!!

i find it best not to forecast and instead just plough through work as best as possible including working saturdays if your behind. ;) ;D

6 weekly does sound like a good compromise between 4 weekly and 8 weekly though! ;) ;D ;D

might do this to my whole round!!just one frequency!!6 WEEKLY OR NOT AT ALL!!

keeping everything nice and simple!! :D :D

i have got a big church thats cleaned 6 monthly(at a good price!).dont think ill be able to put that account onto a 6 weekly though!! ::) ;D ;D

best wishes

price higher/work harder!

Minus 6 with a strong wind here today, so I'll sit on here and moan!!!  ;D

All of our Brit domestics are 6 weekly. The thing I've noticed is that most THINK they are on monthly  ???

If anyone asks to go 12 weekly then I replace them. If someone can't afford a WC, then don't have one. Not being arrogant, but there are enough who want a WC every 6 or even 4 weeks, so they just get replaced.
