You need to clean the pole down thoroughly now and again. I live near the coast so sand is a potential problem. I close the pole and stuff a hose in the hole at the bottom and let it run for a while to rinse out the grit and dust.

I rarely get black hands.
if it is dirty it is fair game

I've been wearing thin gloves for the last 12 months. They have thin rubber palms & cotton backs.

Mind, my slx is 3 years old so I can forgive a bit of wear! ;D

Wind some tape around  the bottom section. Electrical tape etc. BnQ do nice colours. I used to do it to my Harris pole when I was a cheapskate

I don't get it with the base section as it suffers no friction. It's all the other sections.

I buy a set of gul gloves from gardiner and wear only one. When that wears out i turn the other inside and use that one. For some reason i cant stand wearing 2 soggy gloves but i dont mind just wearing one.

when my hands start getting black from the slx i re spray it with several coats of clear car body lacqure or give it a coating of varnish . I also give it a spray with silicone spray every few days it does the trick for me.

Thanx for replies lads. I bought some 3 in 1 silicone spray yesterday and gave it a good coating. Here's hoping for Monday. I wouldn't mind so much if you could just wash it off,but it can linger for days. Again, thanks.

Try some barrier cream on your hands. ;)
