Ok

So if i ring them tomorrow will you guys come up with a standard across the board where it looks like its the same charge.  If i get to talk to the decision maker that will be fun on its own

in this day and age. Supermarkets are slowly choking them all to death and we just have to look elsewhere to find work. This is just the way it is today and will only get worse and worse. So just go find some good rich residential if you are wise.

most savy employers get round that Ronnie by sticking a paragraph that says "and any other associated task" or something along them lines.

as long as they inform them it will, but good point, I wonder if they have taking all this into consideration and done the relevant risk assessment for their staff.

i can't see why Iceland have their windows cleaned anyways,

I couldn't imagine Kerry Katona wannabees in pink shell suits being to fussed about dirty windows.

did ours tuesday, nothing said - yet, but sure it wont be long before were told not to bother if there going to do it themselfs,

just a thought, but could the stores that aren't making money, and perhaps being slightly over charged, being told to reign in costs and some are being left to do business as usual?

Stu, I'd be very surprised if a single shop of Iceland were losing money. But if they were, I'd be even more surprised if they could claw it back by getting rid of the window polisher!!  ;D

Jobs like McDonalds or iceland here are cleaned by the cheapest firm they can get. It's all about price. Don't know how it goes in UK, but if an Iceland store brings in 60 quid a month, that's easy to replace with 4 or 5 domestics surely.

We lost KFC the same way a few years back, staff were told to do it. Went past there a few weeks back. OMG how friggin stinkin they are, I wonder how they fare when the area manager does his monthly inspection... ;D

went in to see the manager yesterday to ask about this. he told me all iceland stores have been told they will have to do the windows themselves. a window cleaning "kit" will be supplied to each store, which will have a extending pole for reaching the high windows. due to be delivered early march.
i have been told by fellow cleaners in the town that in the past two weeks they have been asked for a price to clean the store. i charge £15 per week outside only, the manager told them if they could do it for £7.50 per week to include outside weekly cleans and once a month inside. the job was thers.... nobody took up the offer!!!

I need to go with facts and figures - or should I say an average if somebody is charging x and another person is charging Y thats fine, but Im going to ring and find out what the problem is - if its erratic charging and they dont tally up.  I need to find out what will suit them on a national basis

We've still not been told anything after cleaning two stores today.

One interesting point; someone suggested earlier that all Iceland stores have the same amount of windows and are the same size; not true at all. Plymouth has four stores and they are all different, so I don't know where that idea come from.

It'll be a shame if we do loose them as they're easy to do and each shop pays for the clean on the day, not something I was expecting when we took the job on, assuming we'd be sending an invoice to head office.

Most of the guys i know who cleaned for them have been told. They are supposed to be cleaning them themselves as of 5th march. Leaving it a bit late if they haven't told you yet  >:(

Lost one of our three this morning (merthyr tydfil), havent heard off the other two, will be collecting one of the others on thursday, the other one was done on monday with nothinng said :-\

Maybe their waiting till March 5th when Mrs Cannybody the till lady has to put her W/C jacket and sealskinz on. ::)
