We've still not been told anything after cleaning two stores today.

One interesting point; someone suggested earlier that all Iceland stores have the same amount of windows and are the same size; not true at all. Plymouth has four stores and they are all different, so I don't know where that idea come from.

this intresting point came off me BUT  i didnt say the stores have the same amout of glass .
I SAID MOST OF THE STORES are designed the same .
im only speaking on what my mates wife tells me whos been employed by iceland for 11 years and is in a trusted position within the iceland company .
where theres muck theres money

Well the three I do/did are all different, similar, but all have different prices due to size, height etc

Well we were informed this morning that after next week's clean their instore cleaners have to clean the windows too.

The manager's take on this, and he reckoned he was told this by head office, is that some "greedy" window cleaners - his words not mine - have ruined it for the others. The store he used as an example is in Exeter; I don't know who cleans it; and though he admitted it's quite big with fifteen windows he reckons the £60 each week they're being charged is a bit steep. As I've never seen the store I can't comment but we charge £10 and £12 for the two stores we clean, and each takes us about twenty / twenty five minutes each. I don't mind charging a little less when the frequancy is so high.

How he put it was for every reasonably priced window cleaner doing Iceland Stores there are more charging too much and this is what ruined it for everyone.

If this is the case I'd like to thank all the greedy sods who think they're football players and deserve to be paid as such >:(

He did also say for the tenner each week he'd rather keep us and that his cleaner will never do as good a job as we did, which was nice I guess :)

A chap I know has just lost his.

As for some greedy window cleaners charging too much sometimes its the store managers putting in false window cleaning expense claims that can cock things up, it happened to one of my jobs, I was charging £20 a month but when the manager left and a new one came in he said he couldn't afford £60 a month to have his windows cleaned, it didn't take us long to work out where the extra £40 was going!

The cleaner from one of my lost icelands came out today while i was cleaning shop next door, "What do you put in your water so your thingy slides smoothly on the windows?"
I just couldn't resist-"Well don't tell anyone i told you but best thing to do is put a drop of vegatable oil in when you put your soap in, make sure you use cold water and only about a table spoon of oil though, works a treat" ;D ;D ;D   Brrr ha ha!!!!

Can't wait till next week :P :P

So who does Exeter? Surely between all you southern guys you can find out and name and shame. Or at least give a small clue.

£60 is a bit steep for this store in exeter
If thats a weekly price on that, there is something going wrong in this business, there seems to be no consistency here at all, just pure greed/p155 taking. I suspect that is probably monthly price. £15 a week maybe?
