Upholstery tool
« on: February 03, 2011, 06:36:34 pm »
Hi I have a Power Flite Perfect Heat 500 psi which I purchased just to  use on my own carpets and upholstery after using other equipment when in business. I need an upholstery tool. Would I be right in saying due to the power of the machine many of the cheaper hand tools just won't do.?
Any recommendations, it seems daft spending too much just for myself but an obvious choice would be a CFR hand tool. I have only used a Kleenright in the past but think even this might struggle with this power of machine.

It's the valve you have to check to see if it's suitable for 500psi many triggers/valves are for 135psi machinery, a CFR can be used at 1000psi not that you would have it at that, you can dependant on the tool just replace the valve/trigger, which upholstery tool have you got now?

I don't have a tool Shaun. I used to have a Kleenright when in business which was fine but even that states up to 135 ps.All my equipment then went.
Because we have two dogs I will be cleaning my suits 4 times a year so wan something that will do a good job and dry quickly.

turn the pressure down,  unless you have a cfr type tool you won't want to work above 150ish psi anyhow.

Shauns link looks Ok

To be honest i've used the machine a few times on carpets and did not even know you could adjust the pressure. I purchased the machine second hand.

The valve stem on the Kleenrite upholstery tool can be changed to cope with higher pressure. We use them on truckmounts without any problems.

Teflon Stem version PC6921, works with -
• Water pumps up to 400 psi.
• Temperatures up to 110 deg C (ie - V2 SteamMate heating systems etc).

We have used them at higher peressures without problems.

Ashbys do sell the stem only. It costs about £20 I think.

I have used most upholstery tools and prefer the drimaster tool from hydramaster but apparentlly several of the very experienced people have moved over to the saphire scientific tool as they lik the option of having a trigger if they want to use it.  The drimaster may use too much water for use with a protable, but it is an imprssive tool.

Thanks Shaun. Now the Kleenright tool I had, had a flexible hose attached as part of it and I note the CRF tool has a flexible hose you can purchase. Is the tool you link to going to be usable attached straight to a normal hose. My guess is it will just not be flexible enough. ?

I'm sure it will be alright for someone who cleans only a dozen times a year unless you want to spend loads of bucks, you could try woodbridge commercials.

There is the drillmaster, the hydrokinetik, and so many others what is the all time industry standard for you.
