my m8 used 2do this about 10/12 years ago. he done really well at it, he had about 10 guys renting off him in the end. im sure he done it on 25/30% of the work they had, each round was doing about £500pw. they all had a yearly contract 2 sign, but that was about it.  ;D

lo Hotstrem, he never had a problem with that. his guys where always pickin up new work,
& that was always more than enough 2replace wot had been lost.
when it came 2holidays, either he covered the work & had all the income plus the rent. or he would
let one or two of his other guys 2cover the work & just took the percentage.  ;)

Trad was he not worried about getting ripped off you know get the wrong guy in before you know it he walks away with your round?

These contracts could they have been enforceable if they messed around, ie nick custys , mucked about, caught lying about cancellations etc did he take a deposit?

I agree it wouldnt be worth paying more than 20% of what a round does in most cases.
By the time you subtract your expenses, tax etc. off your turnover its not worth more than 20% unless it was real premium price work that earned a premium rate per hour.

I cant understand why anyone would want to rent or even buy a round.I think the whole thing about W/c is building a round when it's a decent size you can be proud of it.
There's also other problems the customers may not like the person renting, they might not do the job as well. But if i did want to give up id rather sell than rent, id just see renting as to much hassle.
