on some new vans/cars, there is a piston that does it for you with one push of the pedal, apposed to several pumps..
I was told by a garage that its best to change discs on every pad change as the new pads are harder and form a groove in the disc so a new set will be less effective and will probably drive you crazy squeeking. Got a mate to do it who is a vauxhall main dealer mechanic, he said every other pad change discs should be replaced, So he just did pads this time (on my car) and they are absolutely fine.

What do mean by bump start ? don`t understand this term.
my brakes do judder when i brake from a fast speed for a long time, say coming down a hill on a sliproad off a motorway, i thought that was the abs, am i wrong?
