Swivel Reel
« on: January 02, 2011, 08:26:03 pm »
Has anyone done a DIY swivel reel, i have mine fixed at the moment facing sideways going through ports in the side of the van, but some times it would be easier to have them coming out of the back doors, i know i could have them free standing, but i would sooner have them so they cant go flying.

Just a spike out the bottom, dunno how you could do it in a Van though.

Get some mdf

Cut out two round pieces 500 mm in diameter

buy a small stub coffee table leg around 150 mm high

screw the plate of the leg on one piece of mdf

then bolt that piece to the van floor where you want the reel to sit.

with the leg facing up.

drill a hole in the centre of the second piece of mdf around 33 mm diameter

Pop 4 castors on the same piece.... small ones with plates for screws.

screw your reel to the top of this piece.

drop it over the coffee table leg .

done.

and you can take it out of the van anytime you like as it just lifts out of the leg.

 ;)
