What is the Ultimate set up for speed and good results?
« on: December 27, 2010, 10:56:57 am »
What set up do you think is best for speed but still good results?

Hot v Cold System

Mono brush v Flocked

Fan jets v Pencil

and also which pole do you think allows you to work the quickest.

There must be a combination of all these factors that allows someone to work the most efficiently with good results, or does it not make much difference.

Andy.

Theres one hell of a lot of combo's to this - and some of it's down to personal preference and your body build.

not used hot so no comment.

but   fans over pencils   dual trim mono brush ( gardiners )  aqua daptor - 100 psi pump - variflow controller

carbon fibre pole (gardiners)

but speed is not the be all end all

Hmmm. Massive tank so high flow rate for rinsing speed. Hot. Light carbon pole. With the high flow fans would be good.

Have fixed reels in your van if possible would speed you up no end as you don't have to keep lumping them in and out. I don't use the pole hose, i have 3 inches sticking out the bottom of the pole then plug the microbore on then that goes up the pole when extended, saves a lot of time not having to pack up the pole hose, i also use a cordless drill to wind up the hose reel, they all save little bits of time which add up at the end of the day.

Lee, any chance of some info on how you have set your hose reel up. I am planning to mount the reel in the roof of the van over the hols and use a drill to turn it. I tried this before but very quickly it ate through the plastic hex nut and wore it round on the spindle. Have you managed to get over this somehow? Cheers.

I use my pole just like lee, Its a million times better than having meters and meters of pole hose dragging around, I got the idea off jef temperly (something like that), he posted some pics, will see if i can find them.

Exactly, well almost.
Hot,very high flow, carbon 22-25', fans, scrub and rinse on in one movement, electric rewind onto quality well positioned reels fixed inside the vehicle, and don't start me on the 3yr advantage things ;D

Clive are you saying if you have the flow high enough then effectively you are rinsing at the same time as scrubbing?

Not having a go just curious, I've thought of working along those
liines myself but still have the habit of rinsing.

High flow does rinse as you clean because so much more pours down through the brush. You need a big tank because even though you're quicker, not necessarily quick enough to make up for the high flow.

More or less but common sense prevails, sometimes i take longer and scrubb harder.I use warm water and this gives fewer complaints.Even helpers on the first day seldom get complaints.I do have a very high flow. With one helper but not recently we ran out a few times (800l tank 6 hours).

I'm on a meter and i think the water costs about £2 a day.Gas £2.What i get is speed- or as much as my failing body can take.As you know i have the untouchable black pearl of the CIU fleet and some say 2013(apparently) plates

For me this was always the debate with Jeff Brimble, i admire what he can achieve with so little water, but earnings are key for me and the more work the system does and the less i do the better.

As for having a go i've just had a seven page battering on the other side about the twaddle that i talk, so i shouldn't worry ;D

higher flow rate does equal better results in my opnion. 800 litres last 2 of us 6-7 hours of working on houses

Do you use hot/warm all the time then? I am awaiting delivery of a fogwash, and see most people on here only use in freezing conditions and first clean, con roofs etc. I can understand this for a cheap L5 or fogwash set up, But for a 3000 grand plus system it seems crazy.

This is what i do

With regards to the plastic nut on the reel, i dont use that, i took the handle off the reel then put the metal nut back on (17mm i think) and use that, i have the cordless drill wired into the pump battery which is charged off a split charger, so i dont have to worry about the battery in the drill going flat. The back doors can be shut so i can lock the van. When i have close work i put the pole on the roof rack so there is no need to keep connecting the hose, just pull up get the pole off the roof and on the windows in 20 secs, i also use an aquadapter. I have jeff temperly to thank for this setup, i didnt come up with the idea myself, but set it up myself. but it is very efficient.

Lee - nice set up mate,

when winding in does the taper (internal cone) straighten out the hose or do they still get tangled ?

they are a nice option to the rollers you can get

occasionally they get tangled, but not much, if i disconnect the hose once i have finished, at the furthest point, this the hose come back no problem.
