what kind of heater do cc put in their van during this cold spell having a problem as i am unable to run an electric heater in my van as not suitable to get extention cable from house to van and could be doing with getting it heated during the night as again unable to take evrything inside any suggestions.

Get a truck heater fitted. Eberspacher is the best.

About £800 plus vat and get them to fit an extra battery that runs seperatley off the system with a split charger, that way you wont kill your main battery overnight. I have a seperate tank in the back it takes fuel from, but proper fitted ones run from the main fuel tank, they dont use much, a liter or so overnight max.

Set the temp gauge so it comes on at about zero, dont forget you are only stopping your stuff from freezing up, if you run it on max all night you will flatten the battery and use more juice. I put mine on as I go to bed, so it only runs for about 8 hours.

Got mine fitted and it works a dream now.

Murky thanks for that i will look into this and find out some info on the system as i was toying with idea of a small gas space heater but safety putting me off this and need to find someway to put heat in if not this winter now then maybe get organised for next winter as i am off all january and will bring everything in to flat as we won't be here but couldn't get away with that now as it would not be practical every night.

I also drain everything down just to make sure.

Only problem is the solution hose, she wont let you take all that in the flat. I put a male end in my last valve so all the water would leak out as it expanded but it still froze on 1 connection, luckily not the main one where it connects to wand.

Ive got a van mount ( i dont get the truck mount crap) i googled parafin green house heaters.I bought a Parasene super heat 4 for £36.00.It runs forever on 4 litres of parafin,most good garden centres stock them ,it takes thefrost out of the air.
Only draw back is the van smells for a few minutes till you air it       good luck  Gary bristowclean

put an oil filled radiator inside plug it in from your garage perhaps!cheaper to run than a fan and not so dangerous

i had doubts about leaving a gas heater in all night all be it a very small one that is attached to the top of the gas cylinder unfotunately i dont hav a garage i ran an oil filled radiator last year but as we have moved to a small flat i can't get power to the van now thanks for your input i will check out the parafin heater also.
