When i was cleaning for a custie a couple of weeks ago (commercial) i had a guy come and tells me he is the manager of a new shop that is opening and needs a windie for his new shop. Now,it's not a new company in the area but just one that has moved a couple of hundred yards down the road.
So as it was just around the corner i told him that when i had finished the job i was doing i will pop round and give a quote. Anway, after i had quoted he rang me up later and asked if i could do the 1st clean asap, and then carry and clean them twice weekly.
So 1st clean out of the way,the week after i was cleaning the windows as asked when one of the lasses who works there comes and tells me that the window cleaner who used to clean the old shop is now cleaning the windows on the new store.
So i pop in and see the manager, who tells me that as the old windie couldn't be bothered to see if they wanted him to clean the new store and just assumed that they would then he has s**t out.
This is where it gets akward,as i know him quite well, i let him know that i'm not treading on his toes or poaching his work but the manager had asked me for a quote and told me to go ahead once he had had it. The windie had cleaned the old store for 12 years.
How would you feels in this situation,i feel bad for the old windie, nobody want's to loose work, but as i priced it quite nicely i don't realy want to lose it either. Would you assume that if you was working for a company and they was moving that you would be going to the new store too?
I just feel a bit funny at the mo when i am cleaning it.
