I just looked at the website posted earlier.
It states 28 hrs use from an 11kg gas bottle, thats not much. do i assume 11kg is one of the very small bottles?

you can get smaller sizes. the 3.9kg would be the one a roofer would use for felting work.

Hi Chris,

I have just bought and installed mine, in total it cost about £130 inc gas. I got it from the states and its working really well. Did a big gutter and fascia clean today in the snow showers and it was "steaming"

Funny you should ask that. I put my digital carbon monoxide detector from home in the van today and it didnt register any reading at all with the tailgate open, will try it tomorrow with it shut and see what the reading does.

If the L5 is all connected does it have to be running hot or can you just turn it off and continue using cold if you want to?

Yes you can turn the gas and switch off and the water just flows through it and comes out cold.

I called my insurers to be sure I was covered.

The rules and legalities are complicated. They are pretty much non-existant if you carry gas in a private sense, like a caravan owner would. But once you cross the line for commercial use it is different. There are limitations in a weight sense, off the top of my head you can carry up to 300 Kg without any necessary documentation or training.

But the vehicle you use should have appropriate ventialtion in addition to the gas being stored in a sealed container with a vent at its bottom which vents to the outside of the vehicle.

However I spoke to a number of gas supplier companies when I bought my L5 and recieved conflicting advise regarding some of the rules for transporting gas on the public highway commercially. I suggest anyone who goes hot-water does their own research.

Legislation covering the carriage of LPG is covered under the dangereous goods and use of transportable pressure equipment regulations 2007.A 2kg powder fire extinguisher must be carried in the cab and closed vehicles must display 3 warning signs,one on the back and one on each side and you must inform your insurance company.

if people who have fitted these systems to vans and not informed insurer then your insurance will be void. It will be classed as a modification like any other. Everything you do toa vehicle from changing wheels and styling , engine etc insurers must be informed at all times
