We have been usine this software for a few months now and it is great. I just noticed they do a free version. Does not have all the bells and wistles but can get you going and make you money.

I sat in on the Alltec live webinar for this. Its a great piece of software with many functions even at the free level. If you're not too good with computers it will baffle you but you can use it for simple stuff like keeping all your customer details in one place or more complicated stuff like breaking down room by room the sizes, fibre type and pricing.

If you have technicians working for you, you can print out job sheets for each customer for the day.

I am waiting for mine to arrive.

£2000!!! F that! You can do all this very simply with MS Word, excel (for the spreadsheets) and access for the databases.

Or you can use CleanersMate which is alot cheaper.

Just wanted to clear a few of your points up...

The FREE version is just that, FREE, not £2000.  The Free version is FREE FOR EVER, not just 30 days, not 100 transactions, FREE FOREVER.  There is no hard sell, you ask for an authorisation code, we send it, you try it. No hard sell, it's FREE so I don't understand how other software can be a fraction of the cost of a FREE, functioning piece of software?

Have you tried the FREE version features?  What didn't you like, we have people using it who have other software too and think the free version we offer is better than other paid versions of carpet cleaner software.  If you look through the feature list it's comparable to the other software you mention, but is FREE.

You mention a monthly fee, THERE ISN'T ONE for the free edition, it's FREE, FOREVER.

There will be an Edition launched shortly which will not have a monthly fee, because enough people have asked us to write one.  There are editions that do have a monthly fee, but it's horses for courses surely?  WHatever stage your business is at, and whatever your goals are, depends on what value you will see in using software.  The free edition will allow a one man operator to run his business very successfully, for free, for ever.

There are many other options depending on how much you want to automate your business, but there is no hard sell.  The software has been sold to and used by hundreds and all on a recommendation basis WITHOUT advertising it yet, so can't be too shabby, can it?

It's horses for courses.  Good software, whoevers it is, will save and make you money in your business.  Our software allows me to run a 7 man operation and I only work a day and a half a week, i work on the business not in it because the software automates so much.

Can I politely suggest people simply try it FOR FREE, FOREVER, not just 30 days, and make up their own mind after they have seen the FREE Edition?

I need to clear something up.  Psam Software is not owned, or produced, by Alltec.  It's developed by us, Psam Software.  I am a carpet cleaner who happens to have gone through the Alltec courses and use many of the techniques taught with great success.  Some of them are features we have built into the software, but Alltec do not own, or develop Psam Software.  You might not like me even more when you find out i'm also a Chem-Dry, for my sins, but we all have a cross to bear.

Cleaners mate is indeed a great bit of software and is good at what it does, no doubt.  If you invest all your time into cleaners mate and want more, as some do, you can't get more, so surely that is an even worse position to be in, nowhere to go when you want to?

The Free version is free forever, so you can have a good look around and see if it will work, you don't have to rush to decide in 30 days if it's for you.  You can look at the features, see what is avaiilable in other version, and don't need to rush into deciding in 30 days. I don't see what the problem is, it's free, works, does what most people want, for free, forever, not just 30 days.  Obviously if you want more you can get it WITHOUT having to bin it and start again.  Surely that's a much better proposition than investing time into something that will not do more when you are ready, and having to throw all that time and energy down the pan with something that can't be expanded.

Guess this whole thing is a sore point for some reason.

In about two weeks there willl be a Lite edition available for £495, no monthly fee and the people who are beta testing it now, who have other software, are blown away.  If you want to spend £2k on the full version, because you have multiple vans to schedule and want to spend more time on the golf course than the office, or you have the need for an automated telesales marketing campaign spending £2k gets you, then great, do so.  If you don't, DON'T.  Try something that's free forever, see if it will do what you want, and what have you lost, NOTHING.

OK I take back some of what I said. If you can use it fully for free and do pretty much most things a one man band wants to do the that's great. Some of us set our sites low and won't be going multi truck just yet.

My only question would be, for the average carpet cleaner why on earth would they stump up even £500 when they can do most things with your 'free' software?

The answer is simple, and honest...

The £500 edition will AUTOMATE so much more, so you spend LESS time doing admin, marketing etc.  The free version allows you to do it but 'manually'.

Oh, the £500 edition will have a FULL 30 Day MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.  Just tell us why it's not for you, so we can improve it in future for other users, and we'll send your money back, NO QUIBBLE.

Obviously we want people to upgrade to paid versions, we are a business after all and I would not try to hide the fact that we want people to upgrade.  To try and do so would be treating people like idiots, and they aren't, are they?

We can keep selling our full product as we are doing, on referral and recommendation from existing users, and yes Pierre is one of them.  We don't pay any commissions.  We have listened to what other carpet cleaners have said about our software, ie it's expensive, too many features for me, don't want a monthly fee etc etc etc and responded.  We have already invested serious six figure amounts into this software, so a few quid to produce a free edition, which we can give away to those very people who would MEVER have bought the full edition is a no brainer.  SOME of them will grow the business and need MORE than other cheap software offers.  So, why not offer people something they can use for free, to see if it suits them, while they don't need all the functionality, or automation, because when they DO need more features they can get them, and not throw all the work down the pan.  I'm a firm believer in what goes around comes around.

Look, I tell you what I am already blown away by the features in Cleaners Mate, its certainly feature packed thats for sure and it does everything for my marketing and so so much more than a free version could of course ever do, thats why a lot of guys on here use it apparently.

I certainly couldnt afford to buy this psam thing and glad I found cleaners mate when I did, end of.

YEP!  Full edition is just that, Niche Market.

You are spot on, the vast majority of carpet cleaners are not hungry enough to want to build a business that needs the full edition, and fair play to them if thats what they want and, more importantly, are HAPPY that way.   However, when you speak to guys most of them genuinely do want something to help, thats cheap, or even better, free.

I'll never make any serious money, or retire early, selling software at £495 one off to carpet cleaners, that's a fact, so why not put something out for free to put something back?.  I couldn't afford software once.  I was busting my gut cleaning carpets all day, doing paperwork at night and weekends to catch up but knew computers and software could automate much of what I was doing.  As I grew my business I looked at how I could make my life easier and software was the way.  I tried Excel, Access etc, even Camelot from the states, but nothing did things the way I wanted.  So I bit the bullet and started investing in developing a simple system that did what I wanted, then as that grew my business I invested more into the software, got a return in both time and money from that and the rest is history.  Hundreds of Psam users now share marketing ideas and tips, growing their businesses using software I created.

Ouch!  Really have touched a nerve for some reason.

I have actually already spoken to the mods about advertising and was planning to start in a couple of weeks, ask them.  The first posting I made (have a look) said if this breaches the rules please pull it.
