Will this be to slow... vivaro 85/600litres
« on: November 21, 2010, 05:43:53 pm »
Hi there, just brought a 05 vauxhall vivaro 85hp, not yet fitted our 600 litre system in, abit worried that once we fit the system the van is going to struggle, as is does feel slow compared to our T5 102 hp.  Has anyone got the same van and system size????

If its any use, I posted a foto of my own 600 litre system above on the second page of the thread. 5 or 6 posts up. Thats been in that vivaro for nearly 5 years now and I never had a problem. Just be conscious of it, ya know.

Hi
There are plenty of 85hp Transits around and they manage fine. Hp is not the important thing with diesels, its the torque and the gearbox ratios that is the factor. Yes the T5 will be faster, but no diesels are racing cars. It will manage fine.

Sorry, Gurdy, not a go at you personally, but it amases me how many people buy something and then seem to ask questions afterward. I have noticed this abit recently. In business management, we were taught the importance of 'Due Diligence' which is to study the pro's and cons of an action or in this case a purchase before actually making the purchase.
What also amases me is that there have been numerous threads on here by window cleaners who have had nothing but grief from their Vivaro/Trafic/ Nissan vans and still others buy them. Personally, I would stay away from them.

Diesels tent to be torqier, so the weight will effect MPG alot more than it effects performance.

It will be a slow ass van.

my hiace is slooow with 85.

Just the acceleration though. Tbh, you don't want to be racing around with 600 litres on board anyway.

Gurdy,I have the same vivaro with 650 litre set up and its fine.It does struggle a little on the hills but on the flat no problem. My advice would be that speed is your last consideration because all you do is chew your tyres and wear the brakes prematurely with the weight been carried.I've had the van 3 years and it's been excellent.Hope this helps.
