Just a question, how would you change the moderating ?

I tend to let the forum flow, and only step in when something is clearly out of order.
If I were to delete waffle, the members would rebel and every post would need intervention, I think forums take there own direction and too much intervention would make the forum too clinical.

Back to my first question what would you do different as a moderator ?

I fully agree with you, Dave.  The mod I took over from nearly bust a blood vessel trying to keep the non window cleaning chat out of the forum; he went overboard and it just felt like big brother was monitoring us; it really was over moderated.

And maybe people here don't understand what you actually do as moderator.  Maybe they don't understand that you're just a window cleaner like the rest of us, you don't moderate for money, you just do it because you like the forum and want to keep it a healthy place.

My suggestion is you post a sticky saying exactly what your thoughts are about moderation, and put the ball back into the members court, reminding them to use the REPORT TO MODERATOR button if they feel something requires moderating.

Then we can all take some responsibility for how the forum is ran, and it removes the 'right' to just whinge about the mods.

I know from my own experience that everytime I hit the "Bleat to Mod Button", you guys always act upon it.  Thanks for that, but I know you do that for anyone.

Thats what I miss from my days in employment, no matter how much grief we were getting for not selling enough, difficult customers, not following procedure etc,etc, there was always a collegue to take the pressure off with a natter or bit of a p1ss take. I know a bit about pouting and skulking on here , I've done a bit myself and maybe it can seem clicky, I'm not sure if it is or just seems that way if you're not a regular poster - I've yet to work that one out! 

I think Ewan is an attention seeker who obviously knows nothing about window cleaning. Probably late 20's or early 30's and lives at home with mummy and has a secret world in his bedroom wherein he's powerfull mystic when in front of a pc. My opinion, he's a nobody but on this forum, he can be secret Ewan the much talked about supreme master.

There used to be someone on this forum ages ago called Graham and I'm struck by their similarities.

Me, I've turned into a grumpy old git and proud of it. Never had time for pouting or sulking though. To busy whinging.

Ewan works for a supplier probably Brodex. He's been to a couple of trade shows giving out leaflets. He has an interest on this forum obviously 'cos he sells gear. He once bragged how he set up a windowcleaner who earns 30+ a year. What he meant was he supplied a cleaner who has become successful. He has had his paws on a Gardiners SLX and posted the pics. He doesn't clean with it 'cos he's behind a desk. His company got the pole in to keep an eye on the competition. Ewans top prority is to rubbish all Gardiners products in a vain hope to dent their sales and reputation. Ewan thinks he knows all about business and the tax man - he doesn't because he's on a payroll (remember the huge mistake he made telling everyone to claim tax back on sandwiches?)
He has to erase all his Gardiners rubbishing posts just in case he's rumbled and he drags his firm into the open.
He is partially educated and can conjure up some impressive words but lets himself down on basic spelling which seems odd.
I do enjoy his posts especially the riddles that make no sense at all - keep it up Ewan!

Yep, me too, spot on!

I do have some sympathy for him though, trying to defend the utter tripe that Brodex supply & their customer service reputation is some task mind!!!!
