The only time he did answer a question about who he most admired on the forum he said me, adding that i was usually right about everything too.

Which is like that question, we're all liars which way is the town !!! There's alot of prima donna's on here. Read the advice and ignore the names is my advice !!   ;D

yes ignore the post count, no-one will go that far wrong if they follow that advice.

Is right mate, you see some right drivel posted here...........
someones undercutting me what should i do?
someones canvased my area, ha !he won't get any work from me i'm gonna tell him!
whats the best van for a 1000 litre IBC a fiesta van or a 7 and half tonner?
The list goes on.......
Mind you, i'm guilty of it myself. Who would really use Tescos cleaner for windows?!!!
Sifting through the bollox thats  a real job in itself !!!

I take it reasonably seriously. If something takes my interest i ask.If no one knows i try and crack it.

I don't share because the competition is too fierce, and why should i give people what i have?

If there was a bit more respect, not so much groveling, as deference i might tip people the wink more often. You assume that i don't have anything to offer. You'd be very surprised.I don't mean a little bit surprised, i mean astounded.

But the truth is i have tried and most don't even check the lottery ticket.

I came on here to learn (and still do). But its almost become an addiction, there is so much crap on telly anyway. The short time I have been on here though it has started to get a bit repetitive. A lot of good posters have gone after all that falling out and getting banned by that new admin bloke who never lasted long  ::) shame really

I think the admin made a big mistake creating the scenario for matt to create his own forum. Many on here look at both but quality posters like matt and williamx are either lurking behind a different ID on here or they have gone. A big loss for the quality of replies to be found on here.
And yes its easy to get caught up in the drivel. Sometimes i have to remind myself that it's just a screen so as not to get too emotional about some posts.
One thing i've learnt is that there is always a honeymoon period for a new piece of equipment, no matter how good or bad it is.
Sorting the wheat from the chaff has got to be the most difficult thing for anyone seeking info on something new to them.

I have noticed that most of you guys never ever post on the much more interesting part of the forum. The non cleaning related topic section.
Everything is posted there about everything, window cleaning is never mentioned.
You really should give it a try, not so busy as here but by far a more intelligent type of post. Mabey that's why you don't post. ;D ;D ;D ;D

It’s your business Mark, make your own decisions and you won’t have to spend no time sorting through the wheat

Use your head; don’t rely on other’s comments

I first came on here with the optimistic hope that I could share my work experiences with others, in order to be of some encouragement, especially to those who are new to the game, and to pick up fresh ideas and genuine encouragement myself, so I could improve the way I do things.

What I have found though, is the unrelenting putting down and cheap points scoring against those who do things differently to the way they do them, or those who drive a vehicle which 'brings our industry into disrepute' in the eyes of those who believe window cleaning is on the same level as brain surgery. Not to tar everyone with the same brush, not all of you do this, but for those who do, you know who you are.

The result is that I still run my business exactly the same as before I did before I came on here! Am I falling behind with the times? Of course you are, I hear in unison. Will I ever be as successful as everyone on here claims to be. No way, comes the reply. Do I give a rat's about it? I give you one guess.

John.

After being on another window-cleaning forum for the last year or so were I must say the guys are great and the possitive responses you get to any question weather it be very minor and obvious or totally obscure and mindboggling is second to none. It helped me get through the early stages of getting going, I had read various comments about ciu and 2 days ago thought I would sign up and have a look, I have to say it aint too pretty here compared to the other 1 and I know were I would rather be when wanting good sound valuable advice!!!

i'm only a member here, pros and matts forum and also think the quality of posts is far behind the other 2. Matts site is very good but i think because it's been like it for years,  c leaning pros is imo far ahead in quality and relevant replies to anything.
Although i'm on here more than any other. Haven't been on pros for ages but whenever i make a new purchase i will look around the forums.

Couldn't agree more with the above.

I used to post on here frequently untill about 3 or 4 years ago. My work load got extremely busy so for about a year I didn't even look at CUI. When I started looking again, I was shocked at how it had all changed for the worse. Between then and now I have in the main been one of those phantom lookers.

This used to be an incredibly good forum but it's degenerated. To put it bluntly, there's too many thicko's posting stuff similar to what comes out of a dogs backside. There are also far to many clicky one line replies and undecipherable twaddle. I also sometimes think that some could have issues about how to stick a stamp on a letter.

Although there are still members with a lot of knowledge, it tends to get submerged under the rubbish. A lot of past members who could have still made real contributions have gone.

When someone posts about how they did almost no work because they needed access and the customer was out and 'what am I doing wrong' ........... and then rejects the obvious answer............ jeeeeez. Add to that some of the replies about 'training the customer' and 'don't let the customer run your business'.

Then there are the liars and the person struggling who makes out they are some big tough fast super duper window cleaner with a gold mine of knowledge. The 'I reckon on 18 town houses, 37 semi's, 3 factories, one submarine, 4 garden sheds, and the space shuttle - with an hour for lunch' brigade.

Sorry if that upsets a few members but to me, that is what this forum is now. 1% usefull information and 99% cow manure.

Cheers

John, you always make a lot of sense. Have you ever thought of posting on the non cleaning section of this forum?  Load's of good topics and posts that you might enjoy. There is more to CIU than just window cleaning.

Nathanael's rumbled me!  ;D

No - with you Ewan I wonder why you keep deleting your posts? Looking at your statistics you've started more than 3600 topics yet only show about 100 posts; and except for DMSI you've been on here much more than any other poster. Over 100 days!

If you hadn't deleted so many you would probably show over 10,000 posts I reckon.

Just wondering ...

He could tell you but you wouldn't understand, the fact that you ask shows you don't have the intellectual scope to absorb it! ;D

Personally, I believe he's a Brodex plant. ;)
;D

If you want free advice you will get it on here

Unfortunately you will have to ignore some idiots to find it.

Luckily I never have to read ewans posts, he deletes them before I get the pleasure.

Thanks Ronnie, I appreciate your comment.

I do sometimes browse through the non-cleaning section, without making much of a contribution I confess.

Could be the way to go! And as you rightly say, there is definitely more to CIU (and life!) to window cleaning.  :)

why bother posting then boys? Like someone else said on a previous post, a lot come on here that work on their own and see this forum as a place to chat about work with work mates. If you've ever worked with a group of people most of the chat, most of the time is banter. Lighten up and you might find yourself enjoying being on here rather than skulking in the shadows with a big pouty lip out.
