Don't buy a Vivaro. Ask Gav lammy,me,Rich Fraser and every other poor sod who regretted the day they bought one. Why not a citroen dispatch or Hyuandi or transit connect etc?

Thats what i said! The vivaro, trafic and primastar are all the same van.  If you're close to Southampton tomorrow you can have a go in my Transporter. Burn off a few Saxo's in it,get waved at by surfer dudes and wink at some chicks. Accept no substitutes.  :)

they are the same van, the gearbox giving up is a common problem, gav lam's one has gone through 2 turbos and has just blown a head gasket, look for a vito or a transporter if they are in your price range if you want a large van, if you could go smaller the transit connects are good little vans, and you can get a 650l tank in them, but you would be on the limit of the payload

3000kg???? They don't make a Transporter that carries over 1300kgs. It might tow that weight. 3000kgs is the gross weight of your van,not what it will carry

Thats the weight of the van, Is it a T26, T28,T30 or T32? That is the load capacity.

Andy is that a T4 or a T5 out of interest? Luther, Have you got any pics? The T5 has got to be one of the best vans (Drive/build quality/looks/economical, etc). The wifes got a Transporter Shuttle T5 174BHP and it goes like stink and is a lovely drive, whilst I make do with a T4 van.

It's doesn't matter what size the van is as to wether it has the payload, i think the dobilo can carry 700kgs, but it has a1.3 diesel engine, my connect can carry 900kgs and it has a 1.8 diesel, but you can get a transit that can carry 1300kgs, but it only has 75 bhp, so as long as the van has the required payload it will handle that much weight regardless of the size on the van

I think that is the total weight of the van and the load you are carrying, 3000kgs won't be the payload though, you wouldn't be able to put 3 tonne in the back of your van

andy

then make sure that you are not over on the axles weights which are
 1-1500
 2-1625
if you are over your gross weight then you be over your axle weight.

being over on axle weight is one fine for each axle.
and being over on your gross weight is another sperate fine. ;) ;)

+1

I would be interested to hear of anybody with an 05 onwards that has had gearbox trouble.
