Please help me set up my system (Problem Solved)
« on: September 21, 2005, 06:15:37 pm »
hi all,
I am in the middle of trying to set up a basic wfp system and hope to up grade it bit by bit over time.

I have a 1000 litre water tank in the back on my van a 100psi surflo pump, 2 cartridge filters and a 25 litre DI vessel full of resin.

I am still trying to work out what water controller to order.

I thought that setting it up would be as easy as running a hose from the water tank to the pump
then from the pump to the cartridge filters
then from the cartridge filters to the DI vessel
and then just run a hose from the DI vessel to the brush

but when I run water through the DI vessel, the resin is pumped out and down the hose.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong as I have no instructions here?

here is the DI vessel I am talking about

 ??? ??? ???

Thanks
Dave

make sure the bottle has a tube going to the bottom and that the strainer is in place.

The strainer stops the resin and jyst lets the water run through. The strainesr is right at the bottom of the tube .

Dave

I use the varistream 2 controller from williamson pumps and it works out ok

Just opened the vessel and there is a long tube that runs to the bottom of the tank, but there is no strainer.

If the strainer has fallen of the bottom, there is no way in hell Im going to be able to  reach it.

if the tube is hollow ie you can insert your finger in it .then there is something missing .You will have to dig deep to find it .or empty the resin into a suitable container .

Did you buy the di vessil new or second hand .
if new contact where you got it from.

Dave

happy digging   ;D

I would phone to complain if the strainer can not be found .It will be in there somewhere probably.

How much did you pay for it ?

25L DI Vessel full of Rohm and Hass resin = £175

I phoned this after noon, but they never answer.  all you get is an answering machine.

It still would not get past the strainer on mine as i have one on the bottom and one at the top.so it would be impossible to get past either way .

Thanks for the advice guys.

I emptied the resin into another container, I didnt think it would be such hard work. I was sweating like a pig. It weighs a bloody ton and was like trying to get wet sand out of a bottle, but finaly got it emptied and there was a little white filter lying at the bottom of the tank.  ;D ;D ;D

Fitted it to the pipe and then spend the next 15 minutes trying to scoop the resin back into the tank. (not a job I want to have to do, too often :P)

so all is working fine now!

Thanks again
Dave
