Have you ever thought, i cant be bothered using a prespray that may work,  and be safe on this wool carpet, i am going to hit it with something i know will work and neutralise it with the extraction.
I know i have used Powerburst on wool many times, if i am honest its because i dont want to have to re do the carpet if i use something "safe" I still use M Power, and the prochem wool products and sometimes Ultimate master but when you see that trashed carpet i just want to start mixing some hot powerburst.
Am i slipping into bad habits?

No your not.  At the end of the day your client wants a clean carpet & that is what you have to give them.
All this business about damaging wool is blown out of proportion.  Ok, if you cleaned the darn thing week in week out with an aggresive product for wool, it might show sufferance - but a one off or once a year treatment won't reduce the lifespan of the carpet

James classic example today cleaned a wool carpet in clean condition regular customer.

Method pureclean prespray warm water rinse BUT if it was a trashed wool carpet power burst all the way acid rinse. GO WITH WHAT YOU KNOW TO GET THE RESULT

Ideally you would use a wool safe pre spray cleaner and then if not satisfactory you could go higher up the scale.

I've got wool carpet samples where I sprayed powerburst and just left in the sun to dry on. Just left them months. Nothing diferent.

There will always be one but this is where if you are not sure play safe comes in. Better to reclean than pay out £1000s

Some offerings from suppliers are really only good for clean carpets.

Agree with Shaun, it's a right pain but hit the worst bit first, check results and if no joy then have a chat with custy and explain that you need to up the ante. They'll always tell you to go for it.

I have a couple of wools to schedule in. One especially is covered in kiddies paint, whilst there surveying the easel was out with nothing but the carpet to catch the drips (big big drips). Can't exactly say I'm looking forward to the job!!

Can i ask if anyone has had an adverse reaction from using a high PH prespray such as powerburst on wool.
I never have but only been going 18 months, with the combined years of experience on here it would be interesting to find out if anyone has had a call back using Powerburst and f and f rinse on wool.

I have had to rectify many a carpet where browning has been the result of either over wetting or using too high a ph. This is confirmed by the use of a ph test. Wetting the affected carpet with distilled water then applying the test strip. Nearly everone had been cleaned using high ph. I would say the majority due to operator error rather than the chemical, however there are guys out there using the likes of Star Drops and TFR to clean carpets.

I find a lot of the safe cleaning solutions will work on the grubbiest of carpets, so rarely find the need to use a very high ph product.

Could have done with it on a job i did today,place had supposedly been cleaned by a company using a dry system,loads of marks,and stains,loads of piling,used Multi pro,the Ultra pac,and still not happy,they agy were aware that it might be a replacement job though

Funny that! I had a job yestarday that was cleaned by a "dry cleaner" a couple of months ago and looked like it had never been cleaned in 5 years! Came up good when i was done with it tho.

What about experienced operator with poor chem and light weight porty against inexperience with TM buffer and loads of chem?

Experience wins IMO.

Yes my money would be on them too. I think however the less experienced (quite rightly) will not push it on the chem front and they would also have less flushing capacity.

Safe AND Clean AND Quick would be my motto.
