I dont find weight an issue with the Kirby, cant be that much difference to a Sebo BS36.

What is an issue is the "weight" when vacuuming. The suction is so great it makes push-pull difficult UNLESS you have a machine with the powerdrive pedal and then the machine becomes incredible simple to push-pull.

My machine is about 12 years old now, bough 2nd hand for £110, and it has the power drive pedal and if it had a hose that attached easily then the Sebo wouldnt get a 2nd look I dont think.

Attaching a hose to the Royal is even more long winded from what I hear - need a screwdriver!!!

Sounds good, which type do you have Joe? fancy selling it? :D lol

Can't understand why people rave as much about the BS36.   The Sebo Dart has a more powerful brush motor, same vac motor, is lighter, has head unit steering and sucks like a fat lad with a Maccie D milkshake!   .............. oh and of course, the Dart is £40 cheaper!

SeboBS36 (rrp £228)

Vac Motor:   1300w

Brush Motor: 150w

Sebo Dart 1 (rrp £189)

Vac Motor:   1300w

Brush Motor: 175w

My BS36 died 3 months ago, aged 3 years.  My Dart is 1 month old and performs better in every area.   It's superb to manouvre, light to transport, and does suck very, very well.   The head of the unit is 'steerable' - great feature when cleaning in confined spaces.

I think the head on a Dart 1 is 2" narrower then the BS36 - does make a difference when you have a largish room.
and that 2" could be why the Dart 1 appears to be more powerful then the BS36 - shorter suction width.
