websites!who needs em!!
« on: September 06, 2010, 11:55:30 pm »
ive decided to scrap the website idea.i spent a few hours building one with 5 pages and thought do i really need to spend £90+ a year for it(vistaprint).in a word NO!! ;D ;D

ive got a well established round, van signage, business cards, leaflets(one in the local garage),uniform etc and im picking up some bigger jobs lately!

got a phone call this morning off the local church.im pricing it up on wednesday! ;) ;D ;D

a few other bigger jobs here and there ALL by recommendation!!now ive got wfp i seem to be attracting better jobs!

i dont think most people go looking on the internet for a window cleaner at all.THEY like to see who they are dealing with and want to have someone who s tried and tested IMO.

IVE BEEN GOING 16 YEARS!but i reckon ill get loads of  better jobs in the next few years simply by working wfp!

I use www.yola.com I think and did a bit research and bought a domain name from elsewhere 123 reg I think. but to keep it simple just build a site from yola then there are ways to to improve it once you have a site, and it will not cost anything, but if you did that search you will see i was ranked first

they dont really work unless you are one of the big guys doing big commercial contracts.

you may get 3 or 4 enquiries asking you to quote an odd semi with 3 windows and a door,

but generally  speaking its just an add on, like a van wrap or an ad in a shop window.

see nathaneal for a website.
dont be a tight arse 1 job a year will pay for it.
they do work and are handy for online payments, nearly all my work comes from website  including plenty of domestic.

key is to have a good name and high ranking so spend time registering with loads of directorys etc.

if your site is used by 100 or so customers to pay their bill it will help with your rankings

My website is a free one from office live I think. My wife built it and I've had it about 3 months now.

I must have had 30 enquirys from it and converted 90% into jobs

Is worth having one Dazmond.... List yourself on google too as I've had quite a few from that.

dazmond-your website will bring in work from places u never think of - spend just a few quid  its not like its a fortune laid out  now is it

the "crock-of-gold job " may be just around the corner !

my own website brought me in a 4th floor ladder job, decent money for a JANUARY job, not a true  crock of gold, but good challenge

Once your website is built, your only charge will be for hosting it on the internet. Google 'website hosting' and find what you think is value for money.

Microsoft office live is free to set up and has no monthly fees whatever, pretty easy to do as well. I get work through mine, got one the other day. £15 monthly, £25 first clean and insides for £25, just going to do it now.

Is vistaprint really £90+ per year??!!!

A pro one would cost a little more, but not much.
I do simple ones for £10 per month (with a small setup fee) & I GUARANTEE that it'll pay for itself in the long run.

My biggest commercial job came from my website and I have had lots of other work domestic and commercial from it over the years, so for less than £100 per year I see it as a no brainer.

Also find it great for online payments which is working well these days.

heathrow100 has hot the nail on the head with the above. I am in talks at the moment with the owner of this site and you basicly email him your pics, logo, and anything else you fancy and he will adapt the template you choose.

Quick question without hijacking the thread. ....

Do you have to pay a fee for having an online payment option on your website?

Papal take a small fee for each transaction,.. works out cheaper than collecting tho.
