What do you most value in your toolkit?
« on: September 01, 2010, 10:09:40 pm »
What's the thing in your carpet cleaners toolkit that you value most?

Not financial value, just the things that never let you down and have given you great service and value.

For all the toys and gizmos I have, my list is very humble;-

- Chemspec Spotting Spatula. Used on every job and brilliant at removing solvent-softened spots.
- RX Dry Solvent. use this every day and so reliable and effective.
- Chemspec Professional Spotter.  Tried a lot of general spotters before I settled with this. Never let's me down.
- Red Tampico Brush. Get's used on upholster, stairs, spots.
- M-Power.  Wow, some of the results this has given me have blown me away.  Obliterates organic soils and amazing on wee!

All the other machines and toys are fun but expensive and can't compete with the value and results of the above.

Sorry to disappoint but I'd have to say Common Sense, a spatula can be a key or a screwdriver if need be a brush can be used gently or vigorously and with all chemicals there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Keeping your wits about you and having a plan B can enhance the clean or get you out of the mire far more than the exact tooling.

Mmm, think you've missed the spirit of the post Shaun  ;)   it wasn't the usual heavy argument or debate on 'tooling', just a vein attempt at a light thread on the things we learn to love in our van.

I'll get my coat.

What dillution are you using?   M-Power penalises you if you try to make it 'stronger' by going above 1:60.     I use it at between 1:80 and 1:60.    It's removed bad urine stains from mattresses, old vomit stains off wool berbers and lot's of dog stains.   Best mixed hot, agitated immediately and thoroughly.
