I 2 don't see why people say that as well  ::)

The problem with me is in the summer my tank gets very warm from the sun and with the hose on the pavement it warms the water up .... Its only luke warm but thats what most people that have hot systems have it anyway as any hotter then they run the risk of cracking glass..

and I see no difference in the cleaning  ::) ............ But us cold systems have to remember is that fellow WC not suppliers but fellow WC say its better and because they have the system then they should know  ;D

Hot is better because ionics says so...what more of a reason do you need?

After finally installing my heater last weekend (its been stood in the shed since january) i have spent the week using hot water about 50c. I have used it on windows facias and a conservatory roof.
On the facias and con roof the hot water was definately a big help with a flocked super light brush it easily removed most marks from the facias (just a few rust marks i had to remove by hand), On the con roof the green that usually takes loads of scrubbing did seem to come off alot easier.

Cleaning windows that are cleaned regularly with wfp with hot water did not seem to make that much difference apart from them drying much quicker, it was possibly slightly quicker on baked on bird poo but im not convinced it made a great deal of difference.

For the full week of work i used approx 15-18 litres of diesel so not cheap but i have not insulated the hot system yet and know i wasted alot of heat energy by heating the air in the back of my van.

Im glad i have the option of hot water now but i don't think i will use it all day every day. The biggest benifit i can see to hot is that the windows dry quicker allowing you more peace of mind when walking away from a job. However some windows that usually come up great with cold wfp did not with hot, i believe this to be caused by the bristles being softer and more flexable with the increased temperature and being able to work their way into gaps of the window frames that cold bristles would not reach and therefore disturbing prevously unseen and untouched dirt. Also heard a few creaks which i think seemed to come from the pvc expanding with the heat so was aware of not leaveing the hot water on certain windows for too long.

Tomorrow i plan to use cold water to see weather i find myself missing the hot as i can see my only really needing it to heat the tank during cold weather, and to clean first cleans ,facias and con roofs.

Thanks for a very informative balanced perspective - I for one will look forward to your next post.

I do not have a hot system but have noted the experience of other posters on this subject. Some state that hot helps them work faster. I could probably agree that this is very feasible, but is it that they are 'scared' of cracking a customer's glass with hot and so spend less time on it, or does it cut through the dirt better is the question?

I once tried putting hot water from the boiler at home into our trolley and cleaned the front windows of our house. The windows definitely dried quicker, and despite a high tds of the water (254) the only spotting was at the bottom section of both windows where the rinse water took longer to evaporate. The top of the windows was totally spot free on both our downstairs windows. I found this experiment quite fascinating.

I am personally interested in warm water to help keep the hoses more supple in winter and hence easier to work with.

Hi Darren

does running hot water through a pump damage the pump

The Shurflo pump specs from Williamson say that a Shurflo pump will work with water up to a temperature of around 77 degrees C maximum.

Even below the max temp, hot water through a pump will shorten its lifespan.

My heater is fitted after the pump :)

I find hot better/quicker on maintenance cleans too, but a lot of my work is 8 weekly and there's cobwebs & spider spots to melt through.

i met another windie today had a lovely ionics thermopure
system big 1000 litre tank

we started about the same time on the houses and he was no
quicker than me in fact he was slower the windows didnt dry
any quicker and the results wasnt as good as mine

then again im fussy :)

and the worst thing was he had tricoflex on his hose reel :o

anyway he was a nice chap and told him i would find out
which was the best hose to use for his hot water system

answers gratefully recieved :)

I’m not questioning the better cleaning ability of warmer water itself. If you have the dishes to clean warm water and Fairy liquid is better than cold water alone.

Thats  not what you tried to say a month ago.

i have known about hot water systems for a good few years now, but after many years of no problems with cold wfp, i thought why would i need to spend more money on a hot system, ok bird crap takes a bit longer to scrub of, thats about it, thats all the benefit i see hot water removing a bit quicker, also if it is below freezing point,i just dont work until it defrosts later during the day,

Hot is brilliant for cobwebs & spider nests which you find on maintenance cleans on a daily basis.

I know I won't convince you Ewan, but personally if I'm on a job & the gas runs out & I'm stuck with cold, I do find it slower &  harder to clean, and I'm less confident in the results. The confidence it gives is enough for me,.. that alone makes it worth every penny.
Customers are impressed & being hot has won me the odd job too,...

I think you have all missed the big answer. Ask the question again in another four to five months when your pipes are freezing and your brush has set solid.
