Hi forum,

I went to look at a carpet in an Indian restaurant last week that was pretty filthy. I happened to have with me a sprayer with a fairly strong solution of Power Burst. I sprayed a small area at the end of the restaurant where the public entered and then just rubbed it with my foot - the patch came up incredibly clean. I tried the same test on the carpet at the other end of the room where the waiters walk out of the kitchen and the solution did not lift any dirt at all so I guess I'll need something else.

Any recommendations on what would perform well from people who have had success with that product please?

I mix Prochem Ultrapac Renovate into my Power Burst and had a similar job at an Indian a couple of weeks ago. Making sure the solution was as hot as possible.... I cranked the psi up for a good hot acid rinse after agitation and a good 15-20 minute dwell.... Cut through the black top with ease!!!!

Colin, I've tried Renovate on a similar carpet a while back but it didn't shift it, even when using a rotary scrubber to agitate it in.

I usually have some Renovate in the van but I am out of it, I need to get some anyway so I could give it a try but after my previous experience I didn't expect it to work.

Hi Peter,

If you want a really good result with low temperatures and less effort (going back and forwards and scrubbing in many times!) I would highly recommend Texatherm's Biotraxx. It can be mixed at approx 20:1  at 40 -50 degrees C, into a solution tank on a scrubber, with a soft shampoo brush. scrub in and then extrac rinset. In all the Restaraunts/clubs/pubs I have done lately most require one of two passes to correct the carpet. The best part if you rinse at low temperatures, you do not "burn out" the product and it continues to feed on the grease/protein.

Have a look at the Texatherm website at the pictures of a Pontins Site cleaned using this method.

As its at the kitchen end it will have more grease in it. Prespray with a enzyme pre spray or I just use h/m blitz with grease breaker added. Hydraforce on agitate and extract. The only dwell time I give it is the time it takes to agitate which should be more than enough.

Hi Peter

Powerburst is extremely effective on dirt but you are dealing with a lot of grease mixed with protein, so an enzyme prespray is the answer.

If you spray enzall mixed in warm water and leave for at least 30 mins, then you will be amazed at how much easier it cleans.

The hazard of using enzymes is that they are asthma sensitisers in very small amounts and it is important to extract as thoroughly as possible.

Always find the indians a lot more difficult than the grease/oil used by the chinese.

Am I right that enzymes can shift dye's in deep coloured carpets such as red and blue's?

Very unlikely on the sort of carpet usually found in Indians.

They also use much heavier oils, ghee etc than the chinese who are generally much healthier, if it wasn't for all that salt.

When I was carpet cleaning I cleaned 30 odd diiferent Chinese restaurants in China town ,London, over a 12 year period, all repeat business, which were the ultimate in greasy, I used Powderd Enzime (craftex) .

Went to Chemspec today and bought some Enz-All, I'll see how I go on with that, the job is next Monday/
