New to carpet cleaning
« on: August 13, 2010, 05:54:41 pm »
Hi Guys,

Before I had come across this site I bought a porty, its a Truvox President and still think it was pretty cheap as it is like brand new.  However I am not getting great results on my home carpet, what im not sure is if its the machine or me? I know from reading this site that my machine is not very well rated and its vital for me to get some training, which I intend on doing but wanted to have a go at home so I wasnt a complete novice.

Before I purchased the truvox I did do a little bit of research, for people who are unaware of the specs its got 2 x 3 stage Lamb Ametek motors with 220" of lift and a 100psi solution pump. This seemed to be the same as the prochem powermax which seemed ideal as a starter machine?

Anyway enough of my rambling, what I want to know is will this machine be any good until I can afford to upgrade to something new like a airflex turbo? or am I going to have to try and get another second hand cheapy to tide me over until I can afford a new machine?

Regards
Lewis

Those machines aren't that bad. Get some training and learn how to use the right products and you'll soon be getting good results.

Hi Lewis,

John's hit the nail on the head, training course is a must, asap, it has to be your top priority.

Very best of luck with your venture.

Simon.

Where ae you based? tell us where and you may find another cleaner will "take you under their wing" and help you out with questions and perhaps take you out and show you some work.

The powemax does a good job with cleaning carpets. I did well with one for a while, have to allow dwell time with presprays and agitate well with hand brush or a sebo duo and results are good. It takes longer to get the result than with a more powerful machine thats all. I cleaned well with a powermax, sebo duo and used an airmover to help drying times.

I had a Truvox President and spent the 1st year in business with it. I got very good results, it just took alot longer to rinse with than the current high spec portable I have now. The Truvox President is a very robust machine and you just can't flood the vac motors so it should be reliable.

Use it until you can justify buying a 3 vac machine with 500psi or truckmount and you won't belive the difference  :)
