£3100 for a dodgy system. I'd want a fully working system with all the trimmings for that amount

It'd be dead easy to fix,.. replace the Ionics resin cartridge with a standard DI & disable the RO-bak function,.. sorted!

At that price, even with problems its not a bad deal for what it is.
If you read Darranvps posts he has had several goes at fixing it without success and if he is to be believed has an in depth knowledge of wfp systems e.g. desingning system for Facelift.

It is only a rip off if the seller didn't tell the buyer about the problems with the equipment, it is up to the buyer to use his own judgement as to whether the equipment is value for money.

To that end I think we can all see that's not worth £3100 let alone £5k.

If anyone does buy it, can you please post the experience here?

I noticed this on ebay and was very tempted until I have just read Darrens comments on here.

We have two Ionics systems, a Pro6 650ltr Thermopure and a Pro5 650ltr cold system, both bought second hand with vans.

The only problems I have ever had with them is one of the level sensors went off, £22 to replace and a pump had to be replaced on the cold system (£100 ish).

The Ionics DI cannisters last us around 6 months at a water reading of 280ppm in our area.

The Thermopure is a tremendous system and I would buy another without blinking if the price was right and it was all in good condition and working order.

Guess I may give this one a miss!  Cheers for your honest comments Darren, did you con him out of £3100 or not, probably not as it's a good set up and the Pro7 filter should be able to be bypassed to turn it into a standard Pro5 Thermopure

Its been relisted at a more reasonable price guys.

yes but its listed as fully working and no problems and recently serviced by Ionics,  thats what you call a deliberate con as the guy knows it needs a fair bit of money spent on it to get it working normal again.

I sold it to him for 3100 pounds just over a week ago.
It has problems so be careful, it will need a lot of cash spending on it to get it right.
It automatically backwashes the RO - but it doesn't work.
Each day we used it we had a problem with it, battery not charging, hoses bursting, DI RESIN NEEDS CHANGING EVERYTIME YOU FILL - and they cost about 90 pounds!
Buyer beware unless you want to spend a lot on it, and be prepared to onsite fix it EVEYTIME you use it.

So i take it this is the item you were selling Darranvps?
I cant see any details there of how the system has problems, quite the opposite in fact.

Yes indeed buyer beware ::)

So this system really had been doing the rounds!

Ian Roch - what's a 'Pro5'?  IS that like a cold version of the Pro7?

the pro 5 for me is the best system and certainly most popular system made by Ionics,  I have the pro 5 thermapure and it is a really good system,    the pro 7 is supposed to be zero RO but thats where the problems start.

I bought mine after speaking to a window cleaning contracter from the midlands who had 2 pro 5s  and a pro7  but told me to get the pro5  as they where having problems with their pro 7 and were gonna sell it and get another pro 5

I see.

So this one on ebay MIGHT be worth something, just not as a Pro7?

I think I know the answer to that one!  I doubt the seller will want to admit that it's got problems, even if it was good as a Pro5 only.

I can understand why the Pro7 uses a lot more resin,.. the RO-Bak filter can't be very effective and probably pours a huge TDS back into the membrane. As suggested, turning it into a pro 5 would prob be the perfect solution.

Hi Guys
I am the buyer and thought I had better defend myself.
This is the original advert from window cleaning resources:

Posted on 26/07/10
Region: South East England
Condition: Used
Product: Water Fed Pole Equipment
Description: Ionics Pro-7 Thermopure 400 litre system. 3 years old Serviced by Ionics in March 2010 Excellent condition, we are selling due to upgrading to a 1000 litre system. Best offer over 3,500 pounds
Price : £3,500
Contact Details : Darran Smith - 07766 243171 - [Send Email]

Now Darren:
Please define "excellent condition"

As you can see from Daniel Worgans post he was annoyed he didn't get £4200!

Now I'm not technical person. I have an Escort 55 with a pure20 250L cold system and thought this would be a chance to upgrade.
I bought it in good faith from a person who now freely and publicly admits it was faulty.
My van fit exactly in the space in front of the garage so when I saw how big this thing was and I would need a significantly bigger van, that I would have to park in the road outside a neighbours house I decided to sell it.

I would not have put it on ebay at that price had I been told the truth.
I am an honest principled person.
I am therefore changing the description to reflect the facts and reducing the price.

I know most of you guys are fair minded so ask yourself "Who is the victim here?

why not just get your money back of Darren ?   if he said it was in excellent condition and sold it to you on that basis then you have a right to your money back

It would be nice to have that in English...

Fair play to the current seller coming on here and explaining his side of the story.

And Prolly say good luck and hope you can sell it.  Why not replace your existing van system?

thats a fantastic gesture and a fantastic price even for a system that needs a lot doing to it,   however I still feel that Darren should take it back from you and return your £3,100
